Great Truck for the price by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/15/2011. Trim: 1988 Chevrolet Suburban R10 2WD, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: easy to get parts, lots of space, great for moving stuffs. low cost of ownership
Cons: poor braking, handling on snow/ice. noise doors when close.
Overall review: Do remember this is an 20+ year old "SUV". Got it from my in law who owned it for near 10 year but only put 8K miles. I got it a few months ago with 160K miles. MPG is around 13-16 which is not bad at all. Replaced battery, alternator and startup STRONG every time even in the winter. Also replaced pitman arm, idel control arm on the front. Don't count on ride quality and handling on this BIG SUV. It float around corner and beware when driving on rain and snow. The engine is strong, very basics and easy to get parts. Some of the work can be DIY. The inside of the car is big. My kids love it even though it is an old car. Couple things: when closing the door, it is noise becuase of the metal sound, the inside look dated and not too much of features compares to newer car. It is hard to repalce the radio (very old style and I gave up ) If you can get one cheap, I would say go for it and keep up with service, it should last long :)

Ultimate towing truck by Dan, Sioux Falls, SD. on 10/24/2000. Trim: 1988 Chevrolet Suburban R10 2WD, Owned 8 years.
Pros: very dependable, have over 225,000 trouble free miles on mine. Good gas mileage--18 to 21 mpg. do alot of towing with mine. LOVE MY SUB.
Cons: (No data provided)
Overall review: I love my suburban. I towing a racing trailer with it and use it for work. I travel 40,000 miles a year with it. I drive it all over the midwest. I'm not sure I'd even trade it for a new one. The new ones don't get this kind of mpg. Over 225,000 miles on it, doesn't burn any oil, motor has never been touched. New trans 27,000 miles ago. No rust. I love it.

The Extreme 4x4!!! by KIERAN, OILMON, MT. on 08/20/2014. Trim: 1988 Chevrolet Suburban V20 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: The 4x4 capabilities. The amount of room inside. Fires right up with no troubles.
Cons: The weak 5.7l 195hp engine tgat comes std. in the model i have. Second engine in the vehicle and only 28,000 miles on the frame and the secong engine has about the same amount (had 10,000 when bought). The handling on muddy or slick roads. The tiny 3 inch single exhaust that comes out the rear ( cut it off at the y pipe and replaced with 5no inch pipe out the drivers side)
Overall review: Great offroad vehicle for hunting or mudding but not the best for cruising the highway for the fun of it. Great family rig if you have people and things to haul around. Great for big subs in the back.
