Transition or Loaner Vehicle...Short Term Use Only! by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/25/2009. Trim: 1999 Saturn SW1, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Great gas mileage and plenty of cargo room.
Cons: Doors did not seal propery always sounded like you were driving in a wind tunnel. Replaced starter twice in one year of ownership and many other small things to try to clear the "service engine soon" warning light, o2 sensor, different cellinoids, plugs, wires, etc. Repair costs added up very quickly!! Very loud to drive had to crank up the radio to drown out the road noise.
Overall review: I only owned this for one year, couldn't wait to trade it in. Handled good and was nice with having a lil one and needing to tote around alot of stuff. But just couldn't stand to drive it being so loud not to mention the "Service Engine Soon" light was on perpetually, 3 different service stations could not figure out why, replace everything to clear the codes that came up but still it remained lit and the Saturn dealership said it needed a new computer chip which would have ran over $2000 to replace with parts and labor...not worth it!

The little blue wagon. by cookie on 12/02/2006. Trim: 1999 Saturn SW1, Owned 2 years.
Pros: The way it looks and handles on the road.
Cons: I'm use to a larger cargo area.
Overall review: It's a great car. I use mind mostly to get back and forth to work (42 miles round trip). The gas mileage could be better, but other wise i love the car.

The little wagon that could. by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/12/2006. Trim: 1999 Saturn SW2, Owned 2 years.
Pros: I get outstanding gas mileage (36-39 mpg) and have made no modifications- I also don't use the AC much, there is lots of room in the trunk, and grips the road well in all weather.
Cons: It's a bit slow off the line and the loss of power/gas mileage when the AC is on is noticeable (30-34 mpg), yet it keeps on chugging as reliably as ever. Also, after about 100,000 miles I had to switch to a 10w30 oil, because the car started to burn a little bit here and there.
Overall review: I love this little car and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. I've done everything with it...40 folding chairs inside, and 6 tables on top, 120mph, out-cornered BMW's, been sideswiped multiple times by bigger cars/SUV's-and won, off-road, and have yet to find something it isn't capable of doing, despite it being a lightweight car with less engine than some lawn mowers....

not bad, but not great by K9friend on 04/04/2005. Trim: 1999 Saturn SW2, Owned 7 years.
Pros: The engine has 124,000 miles. It is still running great, as is the transmission, but those are the only things that have been right. Still has good punch even with the miles.
Cons: Things were going wrong from very early on and spent hundreds upon hundreds even before car was paid off. Very cheap plastic junk inside and out. Emergency break spring shoots out regularly, air condition vent broke, grab handles broke, all windshileld wipers keep breaking, ash trays broke, hatch lock usually works, I could go on, but.......
Overall review: I won't be buying another Saturn, that's for sure. And I really wanted to buy American.
