It's been a good car for me
by Old(s) guy in the midwest on 02/12/2011.
Trim: 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros:
What's not to like? Mine has155,000 miles on the odometer. Owned it since late 1999 with about 27,000 miles already on it. Has it's quirks, but show me a 12 year old car with that many miles on it that doesn't have any quirks. Still running original parts like exhaust and even spark plugs. Still getting the same gas mileage I was getting a decade ago; 17mpg in the winter and 20mpg in the summer, mostly city driving. Rarely see a "service engine soon" light. Basic maintenance like brake changes, oil changes and tire replacements are all it takes to keep the old Olds on the road. By far the best car I've ever owned.
Cons:
Hmmm... I'll have to think about that.
Overall review:
Too bad you can't find these anymore. It was a good traveling car when it was younger. It's still a good work car now that it's getting older.

Pros:
The car handels like a dream. With a 3800 engine it could probably beat a camaro in a drag race.
Cons:
After owning this car for about 9 months, I've already had to replace the breaks. That would be in my book a minor repair. If I hadn't also had to completely replace the entire transmission which ended up costing about $2,000.
Overall review:
Its fun to drive, but replacing the transmission wasn't fun!!!

Intrigue(d) GLS.. I don't think so. Got a fat wallet? You'll need it.

Pros:
Very comfortable seats front anyway (leather), dash board neatly arranged and easy to read. Accessories are excellent. Looks better w/ rear spoiler. Nice roomy trunk. Like the rear fold down seats to access the trunk or put large items in trunk. It is a very nice looking car..Quality interior and paint
Cons:
Transmission overhaul at 68,000 mi., alternator replaced at 68,000 mi. Has a persistant oil leak that cannot be found by any mechanic (Have to add about a qt. a month). Choppy ride on uneven roads. Not a car you can work on yourself. Every repair I've had has been expensive.
Overall review:
I would not buy this car if I could do it all over again. The expensive repair bills were outrageous. I know the "check engine light works",
and the "service soon light" too. Don't be fooled by it's good looks and comfort. It'll getcha.

Defective Engine
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/20/2004.
Trim: 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL, Owned 4 years.

Pros:
(No data provided)
Cons:
The engine has used oil from about 25k miles. The dealer (Royal Oldsmobile - Birmingham) says the General Motors acceptable oil consumption is one (1) quart between oil changes. They refused to include this on their service order until the warranty expired and now refuse to do anything. The dealer oil comsumption test showed 1.5 quarts between oil changes. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GENERAL MOTOR VEHICLE.
Overall review:
"6" Don't buy a GM vehicle
