Better Than an SUV! by Peppy in East BAy on 11/25/2005. Trim: 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320, Owned 6 years.
Pros: I love this car's maneuverability and handling. This is my second Mercedes wagon. This one has more power and all of the features I loved in our first wagon. I also love the versatility of the seat configuration. It comfortably transports 7 adults; or the equivalent of a pick-up load of stuff when all the rear seats fold down.
Cons: Air conditioning is inadequate in the 3rd seat.
Overall review: I love this car! It get good gas mileage, has Mercedes panache, has the features of an SUV with the comfort of a Mercedes sedan ride. It now has 139,500 miles and still going strong. Our last wagon went nearly 300,000 miles. A great investment!

Great mechanicals, exterior and interior. Bad electronics. by Eastern PA on 02/25/2004. Trim: 1999 Mercedes-Benz E320 4-Matic, Owned 5 years.
Pros: Styling, exterior paint & interior leather and other finishes still look like new after 5 years of family use. Great handling and acceleration and brakes.
Cons: Many problems with electrical and electronic features. Integrated cell phone no longer works outside of car, many trips to dealer to have "lamp out" indicator light fixed, heater/ac fan unit had to be replaced. Catalytic converter replaced at 77,000 miles (under warranty but it caused other expensive engine repairs). Count on $2,000 per year for repairs for years 5-10. Relatively low resale value- Dealer offered $16,000 for 5 year old car.
Overall review: Good car except for electronics. Get the extended warranty - it will be needed.
