Love Hate by dserge66 Syracuse, NY on 07/23/2009. Trim: 1999 Mazda 626 ES V6, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Bought with 70K...Great feel and comfort when driving on the highway / long curvy roads (so long as everything is good w suspension etc.), nice looks, great combination of luxury and economy in an attractive sporty package...when its in working condition this is a great car that's fun to drive, at least with the V6 2.5.
Cons: Be prepared to spend a lot of time at the garage...this car has something go wrong every month. The EGR passages need yearly cleaning past 80,000 if you want to pass inspection / get the light off-it comes on and off constantly for EGR and O2Sensor problems. Parts are not readily available at local garages and I've had to wait weeksfor parts from Mazda. Terrible in the snow-very light in the rear end. The biggest con is that this is a car that you WILL come to love and it will become a more and more costly relationship as the miles add up. Oh yeah...the coolant reservoir has cracked three times in 50,000 miles (3 yrs)...$250+ per shot.
Overall review: Take a chance but check vehicle history, records...pay special attention to condition of suspension components and engine (gaskets, seals, etc.)

Very average by Lugo4ever on 01/09/2009. Trim: 1999 Mazda 626 ES, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Roomy vehicle . Like body styling / appearance .
Cons: Not as fuel efficient as would like ( 23 mpg. with 4 cyl. ) . Noisy , not well insulated ( had to replace door seals ) . Tranny problems common with the 4 cyl . Not as refined as my 1999 Honda Accord . Engine oil leaks on this one as with our 1991 Mazda 626 . Not much power .
Overall review: Car now has 112,000 miles on it . Has been good overall . Used ones are inexpensive , be sure to check condition of transmission and engine oil seals . Quality short of Honda and Toyota .

In a league of its own by Hot Guy on 11/17/2008. Trim: 1999 Mazda 626 ES V6, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Unique, affordable, dependable, and awesome car! I love this car! It is stylish in black and has a life of its own. NO PROBLEM with transmission. Everything I could ask for in a car and more.
Cons: HORRIBLE in the rain and snow! It's really dangerous in bad weather.
Overall review: Bought with 66k in June of 2005 and now has 96k in November of 2008. Great car!

Make a friend that sells transmissions! by CamryChristina on 02/17/2005. Trim: 1999 Mazda 626 ES, Owned 3 years.
Pros: leather seats, woodgrain, swinging ac vents, and sunroof are nice extras. plenty of room in front and back seat for passengers. plenty of room in the trunk for cargo (or speakers :-) really nice looking interior quiet ride, smooth suspension I don't know why It says less than one year, but I have owned this car for 2 years...
Cons: check engine light at 70k said oxygen sensors ended up replacing several spark plugs and eventually a spark plug wire. transmission hesitates often engine diagnostic said that i was having a cylinder misfire weather stripping was coming off the door, but was easily fixed by dealer (thanks). sunroof came off track and would not reseal.
Overall review: if you are handy with cars i would recommend this car (seriously handy). otherwise, if you are a college age lady or without a guy to come with you to the shop and bully money happy mechanics, i would not recommend this car. the transmission on mine will probably be no good soon, so i'm selling it before that happens... toyota all the way baby! Little known truth: mazda 626 engine is a FORD! Fix Or Repair Daily!
