Most Dependable Vehicle on the Planet, Period. by Robert, AZ on 04/22/2012. Trim: 1999 Lexus LS 400, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: 1999 LS 400. Lexus Quality, Dependability. Probably one of the finest vehicles ever made on the planet! Smooth ride and transfer of power. Quiet, dependable. Keep up on regular maintenence and will last a long time. Engine won BEST 10 ENGINES several years in a row. Some say it will last 400-500K miles. 13 years old rust free but still looks brand new and the design does NOT look dated. The NEWER Lexus LS460's (AND ALL NEWER LEXUS') DO NOT have the same ride. Suspension was tuned to handle better ,and they do, but ride quality suffers. I guess you can't have both. For this reason alone the older LS400/LS430 models are BETTER than the new ones!
Cons: None really. Some dealer maintenence/repairs can be expensive, but not as crazy as other German brands.
Overall review: Buy an older pre-owned LS400 from rust free Arizona or California. Find one with low original miles and do some research. Also, search out and find a mechanic you can trust. This holds true even at the Lexus dealer. Don't just drop off your vehicle and let any tech touch your ride. An established relationship with a qualified mechanic you can trust is key to quality repairs and saving on unnecessary repairs!

Why look further! by Mr "A" on 05/29/2008. Trim: 1999 Lexus LS 400, Owned 6 years.

Pros: I've had Toyota vehicles since the mid 70's and won't switch. The Cressida was the first outstanding luxuary car by Toyota and was fun to drive. We've owned the `95 Lexus and gave it to our daughter several years ago and they love it. We've owned cadillacs and Mercedes`, but Lexus delivers the finest of all worlds, ESPECIALLY IN RELIABILITY! I have debated on buying a new Lexus, but I don't believe in "it's greener on the other side of the mountain"!
Cons: NOTHING! My wife drives it more then me (I have the Tundra)!
Overall review: EXCELLENT!!!

Reliability on wheels. by The captain. on 01/24/2004. Trim: 1999 Lexus LS 400, Owned 3 years.

Pros: The best car I have ever owned, bar none!
Cons: Whats not to like. 85 thousand miles, yet to have my first problem.
Overall review: Outside of one or two very minor gliches, probably from not reading the owners manual,--it's a heavy duty instruction book, this car has been virtually flawless, comfortable, economical, and fun to drive. We are NOT real excited about the Lexus dealership however. All in all, this has been one great car.

Perfect Business Man's Car ! by You're a sucker! on 02/08/2002. Trim: 1999 Lexus LS 400, Owned 1 year.

Pros: I love this car. I test drove Mercedes Benz E Class and Caddy STS. Comparing those autos to the LS 400 is like comparing apples to hand grenades.I recently traded my Lincoln Mark VIII for this car and didnt think such a substantial upgrade was possible.
Cons: Absolutely none!
Overall review: I'm a commercial real estate broker and this car has to be the finest for my line of work. If you're successful and want to project that image and have an auto that is worthy of YOU, then you've found your match!

The Happy Owner by John from Vero Beach, FL on 12/30/2001. Trim: 1999 Lexus LS 400, Owned 1 year.

Pros: This is the best driving and handling car I have ever owned....14 previously owned cars, mostly CMAC's with 2 Volvos. Acceleration, shifting, steering and sound condtioning are excellent.
Cons: Don't like the way dealers force options such as astro roof. I also have some doubt as to the top performance of breaks.
Overall review: As I said above, this is the best car I have ever owned and only regret I did not switch to Lexus 400 6 years ago after two 3 year leases of Aurora's, which were disappointing. I frankly have given up on Ford and GM ever competing with Toyota on quality and perfromance. Please tell me I am wrong.
