Just need a little mud and some LTX's
by Meineke Man on 08/31/2007.
Trim: 1999 Land Rover Discovery Series II, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Comfortable, go anywhere, 4x4 king off the road ( except for Rover and Hummer 1 and 2 ), posh and elegant yet beastly
Cons:
electrical issues here and there, leaker, mileage and power, highway feel....all repairable and hopefully just one time...
Overall review:
drive one, you will want one....I did the Michelin driving experience off road in Burlington with 4x4 center...we drove the county lwb rovers 92-95.....after that it was only a matter of time until I had my own rover.....got the disco 2 because it was a good deal and the reliability was stepped up a bit because it was owned by beemer at the time.....

Pros:
Absolulety the best SUV money can buy, and a lot less expensive than other pretenders to the crown. Great ride, no issues with New England weather and very reliable. BMW did a great job on the internal make-over dumping the British problematic electronics and drive-train.
Cons:
The premuim gas is am issue as well as dealer service costs. Alternative non-dealer Disco repair specialists are plentiful and are usually more experienced than the dealers mechanics.
Overall review:
Would only buy another Discovery (or Range Rover if I had $70K).
A huge difference in quality over past Discovery's and it is only SUV made to go anywhere and get you there. Try that Ford,Acura, Lexus et al !

Pros:
Styling is in the eye of the beholder but it looks great and has a very timless look. The truck is truly incredible off-road you will find excuses to take the truck deeper into the woods.
Cons:
It could use a little more space to get in/out of the back doors. Some say it needs more power but as long as you know you will not win any drag races its fine.
Overall review:
If you want $40,000+ truck that includes all the fit and finish that come with that price tag for 1/2 the price the 1999 Disco II is the truck to have.

Pros:
Great on/off road, unique, capable, versatile, comfortable
Cons:
Gas milage, entry/exit, costly repairs
Overall review:
I have owned jeeps, ford explorers and blazers. None compare to this truck. It feels sturdy and sporty on road and it is extremely capable offroad, it has a good amount of features and it is very versatile. This truck stands out and is truly drives like no other. Its comfortable and smooth. If anything is wrong its the has milage.
