Worth the trouble!
by Bill in OC, Ca on 12/15/2007.
Trim: 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
Great styling, performance, and driving comfort. And once you up-date the valve tensioners (on older cars), the engine is strong & reliable. Bought mine 2 yrs ago with 50K miles, now has 80K.
Cons:
Very poor DEALER service (here in Orange County, Ca). Once you find a good, honest, independant mechanic you'll be OK. Trouble spots: J gate has brokern twice for the life of the car, ABS/Traction control warning - dealer wanted $3000 to repair/replace unit, my local guy fixed it for $150.
Overall review:
Would I buy it again? Yep! Pure pleasure to drive.... I actually enjoy rush hour traffic.

Pros:
I like every thing about this car, finger tip control, great handing on bends
Cons:
The only thing I think of that might bother some people is the small amount of room in the back.
Overall review:
If you are like me and have worked all your life putting family needs first, some time before your to old to enjoy a fantastic Jaguar, MAKE it your turn. HAVE FUN.

The ultimate punishment for man
by greyfox from Indio on 08/13/2007.
Trim: 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, Owned 2 years.

Pros:
Looks, size, ride, fuel economy.
Cons:
I bought it in 2005 with 59000 miles on it and an aftermarket warranty. Thank goodness, since the timing chain guides broke due to an inferior Jag design. All early models have this problem. Then it was tilt wheel, memory seat, door locks, motor mounts, air conditioner connections. Then the big problems. Restricted performance, stability control failure, dead start from the key. Throttle body module, plugs, mass air flow meter, fuel pump and regulator. The Corp attitude is they JUST DO NOT CARE.
Overall review:
Like a beautiful woman. What you see is not what you get. HIGH MAINTENANCE AND HIGH FRUSTRATION

Sophisticated, historic, and sexy styling. Performs like a race car while pampering the occupants. No other car like it.
Cons:
No hard convertible top cover.
Overall review:
This is the car that finaly satisfied my search for the parfect vehicle. It is a beautiful blend of performance and luxury, with a hint of nostaigia.

The "ONE" car
by David on 08/14/2001.
Trim: 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, Owned 2 years.
2
Pros:
Smooth, quiet luxury, trouble-free with plenty (not too much) power.
Cons:
An incredible amount of unwanted attention from people on the street.
Overall review:
It was plenty pricey but definitely the ONE car that I had to have. The Alpine color I chose is definitely a "Jaguar" original. It is very quiet when I have to put the top up (which is rare). If I need power it's there. However, the best way to drive this car is to just cruise. Response and handling are flawless. the sound system is the best I have ever heard.
