Pros:
I love how the 24v V6 Duratech Engine picks up on acceleration. It's real power starts around the 3000rpm range. Love the way the aggressive handling characteristics make the car feel during cornering. Very comfortable and confident. Fairly sporty design and styling from inside to out. Very reliable mechanically. Well built and safe. Rust even here in ohio is practically not even a problem, though 11 years does eventually show its damage cosmetically. It's gas mileage is ok. Tank of a car. I've been in a 65 mile per hour collision and have only a broken running light cover and some scratches to show for it. I LOVE MY TAURUS!
Cons:
It lacks low end torque. The gas mileage leaves a little to be desired. It is a fairly heavy car and around 3400Lbs, which is probably why it feels so sluggish at low speeds. It is sluggish before the car is warmed up. Random minor electrical issues such as the stereo deck randomly shutting off or flickering on and off. Never a long term issue. The windshield wipers randomly will turn on. I noticed it happens mostly when turning the steering wheel left. A persistent Service Engine Soon light, though no diagnosable issue. The brakes are a bit irritating with their frequency they need replaced.
Overall review:
All in all, any issue that the Taurus SE does have is minor and generally inexpensive to correct. It is a very strong, roomy, and well styled car. With ample power, good enough gas efficiency to get you around, and a pension for obliterating anything it hits and managing to drive away with minimal damage it really is an excellent vehicle. The 24v V6 Duratech is a must though. It is a fun to drive car, giving the sensation of confidence with the stiffer than average suspension and it's low to the ground suspension set up, and aggressive attitude. It truly is a great vehicle.

This is a good car for anyone. It depreciates fast so if bought used it is very economical. Much better value if bought used than a camry or accord. Good light handling. Good styling overall but headlights look weird
