The Tank, The Taurus by Shifter from Ohio on 01/20/2010. Trim: 1999 Ford Taurus SE, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: I love how the 24v V6 Duratech Engine picks up on acceleration. It's real power starts around the 3000rpm range. Love the way the aggressive handling characteristics make the car feel during cornering. Very comfortable and confident. Fairly sporty design and styling from inside to out. Very reliable mechanically. Well built and safe. Rust even here in ohio is practically not even a problem, though 11 years does eventually show its damage cosmetically. It's gas mileage is ok. Tank of a car. I've been in a 65 mile per hour collision and have only a broken running light cover and some scratches to show for it. I LOVE MY TAURUS!
Cons: It lacks low end torque. The gas mileage leaves a little to be desired. It is a fairly heavy car and around 3400Lbs, which is probably why it feels so sluggish at low speeds. It is sluggish before the car is warmed up. Random minor electrical issues such as the stereo deck randomly shutting off or flickering on and off. Never a long term issue. The windshield wipers randomly will turn on. I noticed it happens mostly when turning the steering wheel left. A persistent Service Engine Soon light, though no diagnosable issue. The brakes are a bit irritating with their frequency they need replaced.
Overall review: All in all, any issue that the Taurus SE does have is minor and generally inexpensive to correct. It is a very strong, roomy, and well styled car. With ample power, good enough gas efficiency to get you around, and a pension for obliterating anything it hits and managing to drive away with minimal damage it really is an excellent vehicle. The 24v V6 Duratech is a must though. It is a fun to drive car, giving the sensation of confidence with the stiffer than average suspension and it's low to the ground suspension set up, and aggressive attitude. It truly is a great vehicle.

Pros: Its a very good first car! Very Comfortable. very good brakes and suspension.
Cons: Acceleration takes a while to kick in when floored. Had to change the frost plug from the engine overheating. Needs door seals.
Overall review: If you want a good first car, the ford taurus is the car for you.

199 For Taurus - great vehicle by An MSN Autos Consumer on 06/20/2012. Trim: 1999 Ford Taurus LX, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: I love my "old" car. It sitll looks great, handles beautifully, and is large and roomy, both inside the vehicle and in the trunk. I bought it new in 1999 and wouldn't trade it in yet. No problems, just the regular maintenance and oil changes. Uses some gas, but for that size engine and the power, it's a given. Smooth ride, great exceleration, leather seats and sudden braking is good. I haven't been sorry ever that I bought it.
Cons: None I can think of.
Overall review: 1999 Taurus has been a great vehicle. I'm very glad I bought it and would do it again - Sturdy, reliable and comfortable.

good old jelly bean by katibug on 04/24/2009. Trim: 1999 Ford Taurus LX, Owned 6 years.
Pros: roomy car, stylish for a sedan, comfy... definitely built "ford tough"! my jelly bean is a beast! handles well in weather. drove across country twice with no major issues
Cons: many mechanical issues. short in windshield wiper relay, power switches issues, brakes are major upkeep and roters warp easily. problems with heater core, EGR valve, had to replace tranny at 60,000 miles.
Overall review: overall great car but definitely takes some $$ or a good mechanic buddy to keep going. the amount of repairs were worth it for the price of the car
