The Death Star by The Man with the Van on 12/15/2008. Trim: 1999 Ford Econoline Wagon E-150 XL, Owned 7 years.

Pros: Surprisingly ballsy for a V6. It's pretty good in the snow for a rear wheel drive with limited slip and also handles well for a big behemoth. The interior is very comfortable and spacious. Good in accidents.
Cons: It guzzles gas and is pretty hard on brakes.
Overall review: My father bought the vehicle in 01 and drove it until 08 when he retired. He was in a low-speed head on accident with an explorer a few years ago. The van survived and the explorer was demolished. I have done some work on it in the past and it's pretty easy to work on. It's build just like an old full sized car or truck. He gave it to me when he retired and I actually like driving it. It's not a sports car but it moves and has a lot of cargo room and it's really good for towing if a friend breaks down or something. Great vehicle for camping or going on trips or if you need something to work out of if you don't have a truck. It's a house on wheels.

Fair weather People Hauler by HOTAIRBALLOONIST on 01/21/2001. Trim: 1999 Ford Econoline Wagon E-150 XLT, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Its great handling and versatility make it a great vehicle.
Cons: For 7 months have been trying to get dealer to finally fix annoying vibration coming through foot feet and steering wheel between 55 and 63 mph. Replaced driveline once and temporarily fixed problem. Can be especially tricky in ice and snow as it lacks traction and anti skid breaks are ineffective on ice/snow.
Overall review: Great van if you get one without vibration as noted and dont plan to drive on ice and snow! Its past time for Ford to update this vehicle with new looks and come out with a new millinium edition !!!!!!!!!!!!! Not much has changed in its appearance since I bought my 93 Econoline E150.

More cargo capacity than pickups, Carry more people than minivans! by Harry from Ontario Canada. on 12/19/2000. Trim: 1999 Ford Econoline Wagon E-350 XLT Super Duty, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: Much more cargo room than a pickup, no need to waste money on pickup caps & tonneau covers. Exceptional winter traction/handling, without having to waste more money on 4 wheel drive. Carries more people than "mini" van crap, with heavy duty truck parts. Unlike the cheap light duty car parts used in mini vans
Cons: Whenever I want aftermarket accessories & parts for the full size van, there's a very limited number of these accessories available (this is the con). So if only the advertising could brainwash the consumers into believing the full size van can do everything a pick up or mini-van can, but better (because it can), it would be a transformation of it's image from work/utility, into "sporty off-road fun" just like the pickups & mini vans have enjoyed.
Overall review: A full size FORD E350 XLT SuperDuty has more cargo capacity that both minivans & pickups, with true truck duty durability & reliability. It carries more people than a minivan, and carries more than pickups, because of the much longer & larger cargo area. When you spend the bucks on a pickup, you lose 3 feet of frame space dedicated to a longer "nose", when for relatively the same amount of money the full-size E350 offers more cargo space, with better theft-proof characteristics than a pickup cap. Not to mention the fact that you don't have to spend $2000 on a cap for a van in the first place.

Read this if your really serious about buying by Dad of 10 , NE PA. USA on 01/31/2004. Trim: 1999 Ford Econoline Wagon E-150 XLT, Owned 4 years.
Useful?
Pros: a limo one minute and work truck the next ,Plenty of power ( 5.4) If you have to work on it yourself , it still is similar to the 70,s for brake pads , drums and rotors. The stainless steel exhaust ,what a blessing , I have a conversion with the high top with tv and vcr , slow down in high wind. the van is preped for towing , all it needs is class 4 hitch and trailer brake control. has front and rear heat&cool fan control but you only get hot or cool air when controls are on defrost or mix , and high or normal A/C. Great in snow ,nothing is good on ice , recommend light truck tires all season , buy good ones. posi 3.55 rear gets the extra traction you need to the road, I like my van!.
Cons: It hurts to fill the gas tank , the price you pay for big rig height and boxcar space.12 in city & 15 h-way , 17 on long flat trip. Replacing the brakes happens to frequently, I wonder if all conversions should be 250 chassis(8 lug rims) I'm trying ceramic brake pads don't know about them yet looks promising, they do have different stopping characteristics so be aware. Heat shield by cat converter has vibrated for 30,000 miles only at idle when trans is in drive. the engine , uses 5-w30 oil , and I need to check it every 1000 miles, I add 1 quart about every 1500 to 2000 miles and has done this since new. The bench seat which is not a ford product is power fold down and has broken.
Overall review: Well , I' ve experienced no serious problems YET. Some pesky stuff over the past 4 years, and most was covered under warranty , I do recommend the ford extended 5 year policy , but only if its ford. if you have a big family this is better than a minivan , I know this because I had a grand caravan. The ford was the replacement for the minivan and has served without complaint,we just replaced the original battery,no rust on body. Legroom in front is not good on any big van,2'nd & 3'rd row is fine. Getting in and out is not a problem as long as 2'nd row person by door gets out. Our van seats 7 with safety belts ,6 with shoulder restraints with retractors. AutoTrans shifts flawlessly and has just recieved its first oil and filter change at 65,000 . Paint still looks new except for scratches and dings i put in it. 70,000 just put on 3,rd set of tires .The twinkle lights on the ceiling and sides give that extra pampering we deserve and are great, well thats it , enjoy your new ride.
