Great value for low $$$ all around
by Don in South Dakota on 01/11/2003.
Trim: 1999 Dodge Ram Van 1500 SWB, Owned 3 years.

Pros:
Room to burn. Love the size. We travel a lot and we love the room of our conversion van. I consistently get 15mpg. I think this is great for a full size van. It has been very reliable - no problems after 40,000 miles. It gets around fine in the snow.
Cons:
With the 3.9lt V-6, the acceleration is a little weak. The ride is a little rough and the noise is a little higher than I'd like - on the other hand, what do you expect from the base model? These are all acceptable sacrifices to get the room, fuel economy and low initial cost.
Overall review:
I paid a little over $13,000, two years ago for this van. I've put over 30,000 trouble free miles on it since then. It has been a great vehicle. You need to evaluate the pros and cons before you buy. Make sure you can live with the cons because it can be hard to sell a conversion van.
