Great Stylish Acura
by PBV on 04/10/2006.
Trim: 1997 Acura 2.2CL, Owned 3 years.
2
Pros:
Performance- Great Acceleration Above 3500 RPM, Fast For a Large Coupe with a 2.2L VTEC,
Faster Than most 4 Cyl. cars that will try to race,
Comfy Drivers Power Seat,
Fully Loaded on Base trim,
Great Stock Speakers
Cons:
Electrical Problems- Daytime Running Lights Malfunction, Check Engine Light on for No reason,
Power Windows Like to break,
Weak A/C,
Long Shifter,
Expensive Parts,
Hard To Install Custom Stereos - Non standard Harness
Overall review:
This is a great car: good on gas, fast with manual transmission, looks great, pretty rare- unlike civics and integras everyone has, nicely done interior and overall design. Be careful of buying a heavily used one, repairs are expensive as parts are rare, most on special order and electrical system is kinda finnicky (a common acura problem)

Old Reliable
by 2.2 CL on 09/11/2004.
Trim: 1997 Acura 2.2CL, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros:
Incredibly reliable. This thing won't die! Looks great after 7 years, still get compliments. Pushing 100K, and has needed only scheduled maintenance. Great gas milage - average 32 mpg.
Cons:
Annoying dash rattle. Terrible turning radius. Doors dent much too easily.
Overall review:
You can't go wrong with this car. Minimal repair costs, reliability and great gas milage make this the least expensive car I've ever owned. My financial advisor offered to buy it from me - I think that means I should keep driving it!

A unique and dependable coupe.
by Jay, Cleveland on 02/15/2004.
Trim: 1997 Acura 2.2CL, Owned 4 years.
1
Pros:
Slick and distinctive exterior styling (especially the back end). Tons of standard features. Typical Honda reliability - no unexpected service other than tune-up, brake caliper, and driver window switch. 23mpg on average. Good handling and smooth ride. Comfortable seats with lots of room up front.
Cons:
4cyl 145hp engine is a little underpowered. You need the manual trans. b/c it's quicker and more fun. Wide turning radius. Brakes are too weak and soft. Back seat is fine only for 2 people under 5' 10''. Tires are $100 each.
Overall review:
Think of the CL as a dressed-up Accord. It's a great car for almost anyone. Some minor performance mods would make this car really sweet.

Love my Acura CL
by Dawn, Michigan on 06/17/2003.
Trim: 1997 Acura 2.2CL, Owned 4 years.
1
Pros:
I have owned my used Acura for over 4 years. It has about 76,000 miles. Besides regular maitenance and one small problem with the driver's side power window mechanism, it has never needed any repairs.
Cons:
There aren't a lot of Acura dealerships around, which isn't very convenient.
Overall review:
My CL has been extemely reliable. Even though it's 5 years old, I still get compliments on it. I would not even consider parting with my car at this point. I love my Acura!
