Pro's truck by Barry from New York on 03/29/2007. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van 1500, Owned 1 year.
Pros: For work, this van is nice and smart looking with plenty of space...Had 100 2x4x8' inside and you wouldn't have ever known it on the outside and still had room inside for other things including plywood, tools and two workers.
Cons: I do not like the brakes and "sway" of the vehicle and on ice this thing slides a mile! Original rims on this van are 15" which is terrible for the vehicles size! Bought it used and the waterpump went 3 days later while on the road costing over $350 in emergency repair. Then the U-joints went shortly after. Idler pulley and belt also...most work I did myself except the waterpump. Parts are inexpensive but it was inconvenient as these things tend to be.
Overall review: I like the van for a work vehicle...if you don't want trouble on the road change the idler pulley and U-joints and make sure your brakes are done, other than that I was very happy with it. Gas mileage could be better but most vans don't get 20 mpg highway. I would also look for larger diam. rims and tires. Tip: If you work on this van yourself, you can access alot of the engine components from under the vehicle...don't waste time pulling off coolant tank, intake shroud and such.

Work van by Carpet Guy in Spokane on 04/09/2004. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van 3500 Extended, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Vehicle has extended interior capacity that makes it a good choice for carrying long loads like carpet.
Cons: Vehicle has an idling problem that has always been there, but the dealer's service department can't seem to duplicate it. The front brakes are horrible, only lasting 15000 miles.
Overall review: Engine is powerful. Great towing capacity. Decent ride.

Pros: Clean finish on the inside, easy for diy maintence
Cons: Tell GM to get rid of the 99mph speel limiter
Overall review: great for towing and hauling if you never get in too big a hurry

Aid this Lemon by Ignatz on 07/21/2003. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van 1500, Owned 3 years.
Pros: comfortable seats, tight turning radius
Cons: Brake pads constantly replaced, alignment problems, fuel pump problems, battery problems
Overall review: I'd never buy another. Ride is comfortable, more like a car than a truck, but the maintainance is unacceptable. Finally had to put ceramic brake pads on. I don't believe all Chevy products can be as poor as this particular van or they wouldn't still be in business
