Economical car, great for the city by David, from Ottawa, Canada on 01/19/2010. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Metro LSi sedan, Owned 4 years.
2
Pros: Good on gas (majorly in the city) // Roomy, passengers at the rear have sufficient space for a sub-compact // Vision, no dead angles, perfect view on the road // Maneuverable and easy to park // 4 Speakers (other car of the same class only have 2 speakers sometime) // A PERFECT winter beater. Even with cheap winter tires, you cannot get stuck anywhere with this car. // Reliable, no factory issues.
Cons: Acceleration, 10 more horsepower would have been great since the car lack the power to climb hills with ease // Lack of an overdrive on the AT transmission, which makes the engine revs high on highway and drink more gas than a 1.3L should(still economical) // Nighttime driving is DANGEROUS. A flashlight is more powerful than the headlamps. Buying high quality lights won't fix the issue... // Front seat Comfort is non-existent since the padding fails after a while (140k km). // Brakes are weak even when you change them // Suspension is not sufficient for four adults... Too soft. // Rubber around the windows will fail early (120 000km, even less), causing wind noise.
Overall review: Very good commuter, but I'd avoid going out of lighted areas are night. You don't see deers coming for you (nearly collided twice with them...). If you are searching for a cheap car to maintain, it will do a decent job (for the price paid to buy it), but parts do not have the longevity of a Toyota. Engine and transmission and extremely durable (so far, 150k km). At around 130k km you may have to replace quite a few pieces in the front (tight rods, tabs, etc) but once done, you'll be trouble free for quite a while. // // // Oh, if you have problem with the rear-def button, find and replace it with one from older models (the right button does not have a little red led on it). // // // So in short, perfect winter beater or city car. Avoid long trips if you want to save your back!

Love And Recieve Love (Metaphorically Speaking) by Sadly In Lovell =( :But Great Car! on 10/03/2008. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Metro Base, Owned 1 year.

Pros: GAS!i luv my little Metro iv named him Geo. Great with any amount of snow and ice. If i get stuck on ice, snow, ect. i get out and push. very easy. I go to school and back every day.traveling close to 75 miles a day. i have owned the car for about a year now. Made some of my own improvments: taken off plastic bumper and covering for drivers side door(interior). This car has exactly or very close to 188,500|9_ miles on it. bought for 750.00(nice huh) better than 8,000.0$ i have hit a few deer and a few deer have hit me. the body is still in good shape. dents can be hit or bumped out and there is no other car that i would recomend for starting drivers.
Cons: Has hard time in exceloration. (don't really care) has a messed up windsheild and windsheild wippers don't work very well. Trunk light would b nice. brakes! don't really work as well as they should. NEEDS BRIGHTS! headlights are about as bright as a flash light. brights are as bright as other cars day lights. compared to radios of today my radio stinks. little to no stations and most are staticy.
Overall review: people need to make more general complaints when making their reveiws. if somthing has happened to your car that wouldnt normally happen to other peoples then try not to mention it. I love the gas milage, look of the car, and the fact that my friends warn me that they are going to stick my "Geo" in the bed of their truck and take a picture. funny thing is that it would fit in their truck bed. Drivers of chevy metros should have little to no worries when they leave to travel.

fuel milage and reliability by so cal dave on 10/26/2007. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Metro Base, Owned 8 years.
1
Pros: fuel milage, ease of repairs, repairs are inexpensive, leg room, general size of vehicle.
Cons: mirrors break easily, seats break down after a couple of years.
Overall review: overall review is good. my vehicle is a 1999 model and has over 215,000 miles on it and has only had brakes replaced, 1 clutch and 1 drive axle replaced in its lifetime. with the use of synthetic oil, the engine runs just as good today as it did new witn no wear. i would highly recommend this car for a new driver up to experienced drivers who would love to have fuel economy.

Economical ski car by Alaskan skier on 04/29/2006. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Metro Base, Owned 5 years.
1
Pros: I have twice averaged 51 mpg for a tank of gas! It does fine (with studded tires) on ice and in up to two feet of snow--everything Anchorage winter driving has to offer. The hatchback design provides a surprising amount of cargo space; it's carried all my stuff down the Alaska Highway twice. I can also park it or turn it around anywhere.
Cons: It needs a rear window defroster. There's a lot of road noise and acceleration uphill doesn't really happen.
Overall review: This is a great car for everyday use and road trips. Mine has been reliable for over 100,000 miles, can carry plenty of gear, drives well on snow and ice, and is extremely economical.

Great commute car, for the smaller person! by Burnmedic from Scott City, MO. on 02/12/2005. Trim: 1999 Chevrolet Metro LSi sedan, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: Bought this vehicle to do just what it does best, Get me no work and back as ecconomically as possible! I average 33mpg on the interstate with the 1.3liter and 3spd auto xmisson. AC dosent seem to affect the mpg much either! The car has great head room and the leg room is comparable to any other small car like the Civic, Tercel, etc.
Cons: Small car, of course, but can get uncomfortable on long trips. I commute 270miles round trip. I do this 10 time a month and I find myself tired of not being able to move. I also had to install an after market cruise control to help my right leg during the 2 hour one way commute. These two are really the only cons I have.
Overall review: Great commute car! Above average in all aspects!
