Volvo Luxury Cruiser by Florida Volvo Maven on 09/28/2011. Trim: 1998 Volvo S90 Base, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Style, safety, reliablity arethe hallmarks of this model
Cons: None that I can think of.
Overall review: The S90 is the last remaining iconic rear wheel drive Volvos produced and the 1998 model year was its swan song. This model not only competes very well with its European cousins such as Mercedes, BMW and the like but excels in overall fit, finish, performance and reliabilty. The S90 has such understated elegance, that belies its true heritage. Make no mistake it is a true Volvo with saftey a paramount issue and was the first to employ side air bags in this model year. Although some 14 years now into service, not many are available in the pre owned market. But by chance you find a well cared for S90, I recommend you buy it fast. There are no dissappointments with this vehicle and for the most has all the creature comforts of anything offered today. I got mine for $3000.00, that was well cared for with service records. It is a stunner and many folks think it is a current model.

Value for money by Greg on 04/18/2004. Trim: 1998 Volvo S90 Base, Owned 4 years.
Pros: All the luxury, class and performance of a Mercedes-Benz at a great price. Engine is good for 800K miles and has a Borg-Warner transmission. Smooth, quiet and powerful when you need it. Great fuel economy. Ageless styling.
Cons: (No data provided)
Overall review: One outstanding veichle.

Volvo for life I hope!! by Dae from Portland, Oregon on 02/03/2004. Trim: 1998 Volvo S90 Base, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Very reliable, great trip car. Great appearance. Very safe, hit a deer and very little damage was done to the car. I have a great independent mechanic who just fixes Volvo's and that has been great for me. Essentially few repairs.
Cons: Not good in snow. Tires are not cheap. Sensor went at 70,000 and car had to be towed. Repairs slightly costly. Maintance expensive
Overall review: I have really enjoyed my Volvo.

1998 Volvo S-90 by cphil from Colorado on 01/11/2004. Trim: 1998 Volvo S90 Base, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Trouble free with regular routine maintenance, which is affordable even at the dealership. Purchased as replacement for 91 940GLE given to son at 150K Miles and near perfect. Good power and torque, comfortable, classy, dependable, solid, with excellent economy of operation.
Cons: Could use more power, especially at high altitudes of Colorado. CD Changer in trunk. Sun shade on sunroof slides on marginal braking. Possibility of difficulty getting parts for engine (2.9L I-6) in a few more years.
Overall review: No whiz bang stuff, but a great car for the money, without the high cost associated with maintaining other european inports. Dependable, safe, with styling that doesn't instantly date itself as with Asian or American automobiles.
