Pros:
It is a fun to drive. Ride is smooth and very customizable. There are many things that can be done to this car. The exhaust note is like nothing else even with a stock exhaust it sounds amazing. By far on of my favorite cars. Community is another great thing, once you get a dub (that is if your in to modding and car shows) you learn so much more about vehicles all together. Car shows are amazing as well H2Oi, VAG fair, DotB and many many many more.
Cons:
If your not good at maintaining a vehicle or even working on cars in general this isnt for you. I learned almost everything i know about this car from eaither A.) ppl in my car club (crookedeuros), B.) teaching my self (a bentley helps alot) or C.) vortex Yes things are going to break the car is 11 years old. What really is a pain though is when the heatercore goes that is a fun project 19 hrs of work + when it happens you get covered in full temp antifreeze. But i still love my dub even when she acts up.
Overall review:
Over all buy a bentley you will need it. also dont get this car if you are mechanicly inclined. becausse its way to expensive to pay ppl to work on your car do the work yourself.

Sporty car for young adult

Pros:
I had this vehicle for a little under 3 months. Shortly after buying it, I was traveling through an intersection with the light when a lady in a 2005 Chevy Tahoe ran it and t-boned my passenger side. The damage wasn't even bad enough to cause the vehicle to cease running. hou will not be dissapointed.
Cons:
Low Power, small gas tank, faded cloth seats
Overall review:
I love it. I highly reccommend the vehicle for it's safety alone, although the handling and general sportiness is good too. I belive that VW should have never sold the GTI with the little 2.0 litre I4 because of the generally extremely low power output. It took me a little over 9 seconds to get from 0-60 and that was with a standard transmission and a GIAC chip (I highly reccomend APR, but they didn't make a chip for the 1998 GTI). If you are going to buy a MK-III GTI/Golf, definitely go with the VR6, y

Pros:
This car is fun to drive and very economical. My golf has 86500 miles on it and had no maintenance other than oil and filter changes. I just did a complete service including the timing belt. When I removed the belt I couldn't believe how new it looked. I changed it though along with spark plugs, cap, rotor, belts o2 sensors, exhaust system, fuel&air filters, coolant &brake fluid.
Cons:
sqeaks and noises in the interior
Overall review:
I think the car is great,I love the hatchback has lots of room, good on regular gas.

I love my beast
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/17/2009.

Useful?
Pros:
Great gas mileage, dependable, awesome in the snow. i had driven a toyota corolla before this car, and i loved the corolla, and still do, but this car is heavier than the toyota and therefore can handle itself better in the snow, but it can't take off all of a sudden like the toyota, and thats fine with me. the car is stylish, and even though i had some rust problems around the license plate area, (most golfs in this town do), and had to cover it with duct tape and skate brand stickers, the car still looks awesome. i love my little car, and may not do the typical body work, but i intend to keep it up and running for a long time.
Cons:
i cant say that i really dislike anything about the vehicle itself. it was used when i bought it with 89,000 km's. the lady who had it before knew nothing about rust control and therefore most of the exhaust has been replaced in the last year. even though it was supposed to have been replaced about 2 years ago. parts are expensive, and the dealerships wont give you any information about the vehicle. the cup holders suckkkk and there isn't alot of space to install extras like satellite radio and make it look like it belongs.
Overall review:
i had to replace an ignition switch, a strut, most of the exhaust, 2 o2 sensors (a mechanic screwed them up by putting heat on them when the previous owner had the exaust replaced. i also replaced a throttle body. i had a weird problem where i was driving down the road and lost my brakes at one point. the brakes cames back after i hit them again, and i brought it to the service place, they said it was fine but it could be a forsight of a possible problem with the master cylinder.
i can only imagine how amazing the car must have been when it was brand new, it's ten years old now and i love it with all my heart. i believe that alot of the problems i have had is because the previous owner mistreated the vehicle. she used the excuse that she was a woman and didnt know this stuff, but i am a woman, much younger than her, and i know that a vehicle needs to be treated properly to run like it should. if you have one, do a krown rust control every year and regular oil changes.
