Solid dependable family car.... by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/30/2004. Trim: 1998 Buick Century Limited, Owned 5 years.
1
Pros: Nice roomy car...not as peppy as our old Skylark but more dependable. For all of this my wife and I love this car and feel safe driving in it. We will only buy another buick.
Cons: poor paint job air conditioner and controls... sloppy handling Had to do some body work on it this year but only found surface rust...paint job is poor quality. Large flakes were falling off but the metal underneath is sound. Transmission is starting to act funny....it can't make up it's mind at 60 mph to shift up or down. There's a rattle in the front sounds like the maniford heat shields are loose. Air conditioner packed it in last summer...cheapest repair estimate is $1,100 (CAN) to fix that. The brakes pads are too soft and leave black dust on the hub caps but she'll brake on a dime with the ABS brakes.
Overall review: Like the car.

The best car for the money by An MSN Autos Consumer on 07/25/2003. Trim: 1998 Buick Century Custom, Owned 5 years.
1
Pros: The gas mileage is terrific. We have a 6-cyl and get 25-27 MPG in the city and 30+ on the highway.
Cons: The driver and front passenger seat belts are uncomfortable in any of the adjustable positions.
Overall review: This is our second Buick, and it is unlikely that we would ever buy anything other than a Buick in the future. Prior to the expiration of the warrenty we had nearly zero annual repair expense, and following the warrenty period we have averaged less than $600 per year including the scheduled maintenance costs.

Many major malfunctions in first 60,000 miles. by Jerome on 05/03/2003. Trim: 1998 Buick Century Custom, Owned 3 years.
1
Pros: Roomy, comfortable, soft quiet ride.
Cons: Many major malfunctions before 60,000 miles. Blown Head Gasket. Had to replace transmission Replaced PCM (Computer). Replaced all turn signal electronics including switch. All repairs total up to well over $2000 in cost (all billed to my extended warranter except for a $50 co-pay each instance).
Overall review: Poor reliability for such a "Best Buy" car. Want more details? Feel free to contact inawink(at)hotmail.com. Replace the (at) with @.

Nice car for young people too. by SC on 01/02/2003. Trim: 1998 Buick Century Custom, Owned 1 year.
1
Pros: I love the seats, they are very comfortable on long rides and the power adjustible seating is nice. The stereo system is ok, could be better though. The arm rest is pretty comfy also. Haven't really had any major problems with the car, it's dependable enough and had great gas milage. I like how the lights come on and go off automatically and also flash on when the door is unlocked by the remote. The trunk is also very spacious. It rides fairly quite also.
Cons: I don't like the brake system, it takes longer for the car to stop than I think it should, and I don't like the shaking it does sometimes when coming to a stop. The windows have giving me some problem, the back passenger window doesn't even work. The sound system is alright, but the tape player it broken and the volume changes when switching from the CD player to the radio. The cup holder sucks.
Overall review: Well considering I've only had it about half a year, I haven't had any major problems even though its over 100K. It's not to bad a car to own and looks pretty nice for a granny car. Which is good since i'm under 20. It has a slight sporty look to it I think, although I don't really like how the tail lights look going all the way across the back of the car. I would recommend it though.
