Very High Repair Costs

Pros:
Fairly spacious car and carries a lot of stuff with the fold-down seats.
Cons:
Frequent and expensive repair bills.
Overall review:
This is definitely the worst car I've ever owned. Major repair bills every year. Completely unreliable and breaks down on a regular basis. Terrible and costly decision to buy this car.

Pros:
very tough cars. can really go the mileage. expect some electrical problems, but drivetrain is bullet proof.
Cons:
Electrical problems
Overall review:
The car handles good and is fun to drive. It's fairley fast for a 4 cylinder and it gets great gas mileage.

Horrible horrible horrible

Pros:
When it worked it was great.
Cons:
In the time I had the car I constantly had to replace expensive parts (the timing belt broke repeatedly, etc.) and for the last year I had the car (2001) it worked for about a total of four weeks. I took it to my mechanic and he couldn't fix it. I took it to VW and not even they could figure out what was wrong with it.
Overall review:
This car is a money pit when it starts breaking down.

215,000 miles and still going on the original clutch. Only problems are bad lifters
