Love them so much we now have 2
by Matt on 09/28/2008.
Trim: 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, Owned less than 1 year.
2
Pros:
Reliability and comfort
Cons:
not much
Overall review:
After owning many suv's (including Range Rover and Jeep), our mechanic steered us towards a Landcruiser. It has been wonderful....so much so that we bought another. We now have 2 1999 Landcruisers with 152k and 138k miles on them. Both are extremely healthy and reliable. All we do is change the oil and brakes!

1999 Landcruser
by craig on 04/06/2005.
Trim: 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, Owned 6 years.

Pros:
I bought it new and have put 95k miles on it in 5.5 years of ownership. This is a high quality SUV that you can depend on. I had to repalce the battery, tires, and brake pads but that's all. It is our family car that takes kids to schools/activities and go on long trips.
Cons:
the engine has a little bit knocking sound. It doesn't bother me that much but I can hear it. I use premium gas.
Overall review:
I highly recommend it

The Safest most dependable vehicle in the World
by Gerry, Austin Texas on 06/03/2012.
Trim: 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, Owned 2 years.
Useful?
Pros:
Awesome. We have 2. A 99 and a 02. We owned a 98 with almost 200k on it. The Cruiser saved my wife's life. She left the road at
60, due to a driver that crossed into her lane. The truck hit a large oak, sideways and then jumped back across the road. It was a side
impact so no airbag. The truck was totaled. My wife sustained head trauma and several stitches on her right arm. This Cruiser was
Gods armor. Very high marks for this vehicle. We now have two of the safest vehicles in the world. Comfort, dependability, and safety.
It is work another $20 bucks at the pump knowing that you are safe and a Cruiser will get you home every time.
Cons:
There are none.
Overall review:
It is to bad that Toyota went smaller and more foo foo with the newer Cruisers. The 97 through 08 models are the best. I have 2 trucks,
no car payments and I save that money for the next Used Cruiser we by. Probably an 08 in another 100K.
Only the best for my family.

'99 LC Review
by CO-Crazy on 04/14/2009.
Trim: 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, Owned 7 years.
Useful?
Pros:
We bought ours in 2002 with 45 kmi.. The v-8 is very powerful, and posi-trac 4-wh drive is amazing. We recently pulled a 4-wh drive p/u up and out of a steep incline. It was stuck in snow, had a trailer attached that was loaded with 4 snow machines.....the LC pulled it out like it wasn't -even -there...It is quiet, very little road noise, and very good for long-haul trips. After 160k mi, the paint, fit, finish, power-train are all still very good. Engine stlll has nearly factory-spec compression. We've had very little maintenance to deal with, and it operates consistently well in hot (Houston-summer) or cold (CO mountains-winter) conditions w/ powerful A/C, heat.
Cons:
The radio is mounted under the pasenger seat, and will, on occassion, go out. Our remedy is to take an iron bar (nasty-knocker) and tap the top of the radio box - seems to do the trick every time.
Overall review:
We picked this vehicle after extensive overseas travel, noting that it was THE vehicle of choice by multiple, large international operators in remote, occassionally hostile areas (EurAsia, Africa, Middle East) where vehicle dependability is not just a matter of convenience, but can be essential to one's health...... Based on 99 L/C vehicles still in use overseas (in miserably hot, cold climes) I figure my L/C is in mid-life, and should be good to go with routine maintenance to about 350K mi. I would never consider replacing it with any other vehicle except another L/C
