Pros:
Suprising horse power - 120BHP. Very nice ergonomical interior design. Optional side air bags are a bonus.
Cons:
Rear bumper finish is faulty. The cup holder is placed in a inconvenientplace blocking the ashray lighter and the storage area. Not recommended for really tall people - 6'3" and over.
Overall review:
Not a bad car to drive and on. If you want a car that will run every day and transport you from Point A to Point B

Pros:
Great gas mileage, no major problems so far (only 30,000 miles on) Trunk size is surprisingly large and well designed for a sub-compact. Bought the car new in 1998, kept to the maintenance schedule.
Cons:
Plastic appointments are cheaply made easily broken.seat belts lock in position while in use.Back seat leg room lacking,paint job is cheap and easily scratched,dents easily,fold down seats don't lie flat,opening is too small to be of serious use.No loading a 4' by 8' panel.Front seats won't move back to a comfortable place when passengers in back seat.Children are cramped in the back.Can only seat 4 not 5 as the center seat in the back is poorly designed.Front cupholders: in the way of the ash tray and cig. lighter & other controls,plugging in cell phone-forget cup holders.Needed serpentine belt replaced at 25k miles. Uncomfortable entering&exiting. Open glove box slams knees of passenger.
Overall review:
Stopping distance is seriously long for this car.Steering is difficult: need to force the car into the turn,then force the steering back going straight almost like manual steering.Steering wheel is too thick for confort.Adjustable tilt steering wheel is useless-moves very little to be of value.The seats could use better back support.The headrests are not comfortable.Could use several ergonomic redesigns to make things more functional and comfortable. Many of the redesigns could utilize the same amount of space much better.Stopping distance and steering issues need to be addressed in the name of safety.Cheap exterior paint and finish is easily damaged and also needs to be addressed. Even so,I like the car enough to keep, however unless some serious design changes occur,I wouldn't buy another Toyota Corolla.Stabilizer bar is a major boon to the car as well as automatic overdrive.Also lose the tachometer and idiot lights and add standard gage package.Cruse control works very well.
