It does the job
by Peter Harker. Christchurch South Island New Zealand on 12/27/2010.
Trim: 1997 Toyota RAV4 2-Door 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
I use my 1997 RAV for hunting and take it into some really rough areas.
It handles well in mud snow loose gravel and shallow riverbeds.
100% reliable and with the seats folded in the rear I can pack a heap of hunting gear.
For its size and strength its a beauty.
Peter Harker.

Cons:
Seat belts not springing back
Overall review:
For its size and strength nothing comes near it.
After all It is a Toyota.

point A to point B no problem
by STEWIE from Barrington RI on 01/07/2009.
Trim: 1997 Toyota RAV4 4-Door 4WD, Owned 9 years.

Pros:
for a better handling in the snow and rain use toyo open country a/t tires. I have over 200,000 miles on my Rav4 and after having had to put 3,000.00 into it for repairs I hope to get another 100,000 out of it. Be smart fix the RAV4 and keep driving some more.
Cons:
Drivers side seatbelt hangs out and needs improving. IF you live in the north east watchout for cross member rotted under THE RAV4 I,ve replaced the crossmember and seals.
Overall review:
IF I had the money to spend on a new RAV4 I go for it.

Rav 4ever
by Gregg, Iowa. on 10/18/2008.
Trim: 1997 Toyota RAV4 4-Door 4WD, Owned 8 years.
1
Pros:
Reliability, style, economy. 133,000 miles and still going strong. Still uses no oil between changes. Except for brakes, timing belt, and O2 sensors, it had never been in the shop for repair. Can fit enormous amounts of stuff behind the seats. Hauled a full size rocker recliner with the rear seats folded down. Goes through the snow like nothing else. Don't think that will ever get rid of. Will probably pass down to my 14 yr old.
Cons:
Rear seat room is very limited. Anyone over the age of 12 or taller that 5'6 will be uncomfortable. No cupholders in 96-97. No armrests.
Overall review:
One of the best vehicles on the road and they hold their value very well.

My Lavendar Rav4
by Squirrel Lady from Fl on 12/14/2007.
Trim: 1997 Toyota RAV4 4-Door 4WD, Owned 7 years.
1
Pros:
i loved sitting up high and being able to see around in traffic. the gas mileage was fantastic for an all time awd vehicle. it has been very dependable and i have passed it down to my son who drives the lavendar ravendar proudly.
Cons:
honestly i can't think of anything negative about it. the 4 wheel alignment can get expensive but since you don't have to have it done that often, no big deal.
Overall review:
this was my ride for 6 years until my son took it and claimed it for himself. i still have a special affinity for my former rav4. i might try to get it back from my son before he leaves for college.
because of it's age we take it to all the rock concerts we go to. 186,000 miles and going strong!
