WOW.... don't waste your time with anything else. by Mike in Colorado on 11/13/2008. Trim: 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Toyota flagship quality. Rock solid 4x4 with exuberant luxury for the wife. Towing capability. Differential lock option. Everything is top notch.
Cons: Gas milage. Slow, you have to get in the right frame of mind and realize you don't belong in the passing lane. Parts and labor are so expensive, even at an independant shop, you'll be inspired to to buy new set of wrenches and work on it yourself.
Overall review: This truck is insane, I have never owned a nicer, more reliable 4x4. The optional front and rear lockers puts this truck in an entirely different league than the rest. I've pulled out countless other 4x4's. Not only is it built like a tank, the cabin feels more like a Mercedes. Pride of ownership is instantanious. I have never been stuck in this truck, turn the lockers on and drive out of almost any situation. THIS TRUCK IS ABSOLUTELY NEVER FOR SALE, YOU CAN PRY IT FROM MY DEAD COLD HANDS!

8-passenger bus by An MSN Autos Consumer on 08/13/2007. Trim: 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD, Owned 5 years.
Pros: The right size SUV with more capabilities than the average person would need. High quality fit and finish. Well engineered to maintain reliability and functionality.
Cons: Very pricey!!! Almost prohibitive to purchase new. Definitely over-engineered to the point that parts are always more expensive than average.
Overall review: I bought it used with nearly 145K mile and approaching 192K. Mechanically, it's very reliable. The A/C conversion/repair was the most expensive but was well under $500. All other repair was maintenance related. Had the brakes done once since purchased. I took it in 8 inches deep in mud. The 4wd works as it should. I also climbed rocky hillsides with little problem. I wish there's more clearance underneath but then it wouldn't fit in the garage or too high for that first step in. Averaging about 12-14 MPG isn't all that great but it's not bad for a 2-ton vehicle with 8 seats and tows 3500 lbs.

The tank by An MSN Autos Consumer on 12/20/2006. Trim: 1993 Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Reliablity. I just bought this vehicle with 130k and am anxious to see how long it lasts
Cons: had to replace a bearing in the front wheel right off the bat. parts were around $50. Gas mileage, but I knew it when i bought it.
Overall review: Just like a tank. I would take it anywhere.
