Pros: the 4x4 works great, and i enjoy the fact that it has low and high range love the way it looks, and the removable topper
Cons: my rear window switch doesnt work anymore, so the tailgate drainage problem is a major thing toyota should have looked at when making a door like this have had a few injector problems but what do u expect with a 21 year old vehicle
Overall review: overall a great daily driver or your weekend buggy cheep and easy to fix a must have for any one that wheels or muds

Old faithful by Mikilu from San Diego on 09/05/2007. Trim: 1989 Toyota 4Runner DLX 4WD, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros: Great truck, even with 31x10.5 it pulls its weight. Really peppy from low rpms to mid. Great off roader. Starts everytime without caring if its cold. Love the clutch start cancel button.
Cons: It will get you above 65 mph, but you can feel its not intended to do that. It picks up the 50mph without any problems but if u wanna push it, it will take its time.
Overall review: Don't know if its only my truck that has a little bit of trouble gettn over 65 but other than that its amazing, really tough mofo. Planning on gettin engnbldr's cam, it helps out with that. I really hate how it dies at high rpms thogh. I know its not intended to be a rocket, but it really dies out at high rpms. Dont get me wrong, its a great truck, but thats exacly what it is a truck, no 10 second car.

Is it really 13 years old? by Aaron-Stoney Creek Ont. on 08/22/2002. Trim: 1989 Toyota 4Runner SR5 V6 4WD, Owned 3 years.

Pros: The truck has been very reliable. It has always started. The removeable top is a plus (although I don't drive it much in the summer). It is very comfortable as well (firm, supportive seats).REAL 4WD!! I bought my truck a few years back as a winter vehicle, (with 200,000 miles on it) for a cheap quick fix, only expecting to keep it a season). It turned out to be such a good runner that I put out another $3000.00 for body and paint. It now has 214,000 miles (344,000 Kilometers) and it and drives very well.Passengers cant belive it's 13 years old.
Cons: The passenger room is a tad shy. The V6 is smooth, but underpowered. The manual locking hubs are a bit of a pain. Access to the rear seat is tough, as the front seat doesn't slide far enough forward to load /unload people. The radio position is rediculous (way too low). No cup holders (this is my biggest peeve). They also seem to rust quite easily.
Overall review: It falls short in a lot of areas, but It serves it's purpose well. Newer 4Runners have adressed a lot of the shortcommings that I have mentioned, but of course, are more money. Should anyone buy one? Well, the truck is 13 years old, but if you can find a well maintained one, it would make a great winter/second vehicle.
