Reliable, Fun, but should be willing to invest $$$$$ on high mileage by Subidubido on 04/23/2013. Trim: 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT, Owned more than 10 years.
Useful?
Pros: Handlng and all wheel drive.
Cons: The issue with the head gasket / design of the cooling system.
Overall review: I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT with 243,000 km on the engine. The car is in mint condition - arctic white paint. I really enjoy driving this car.The head gasket now needs to be replaced. Did all the maintenance. I've been fortunate it lasted this long. Car was mostly highway driven. Car is drivable and the leaking coolant is gradual and would go un-noticed to someone not familiar with the car. Head gasket is now not reliable so getting it replaced by a certified Subaru mechanic. Will cost $3,500 to do it right. Don't recommend to do it cheaply because if its not done right the gasket can leak again. Done right, car can drive another 200,000km.

My First Car by Idaho Driver on 03/08/2009. Trim: 1998 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited, Owned more than 10 years.
Useful?
Pros: Good car, reliable, good handling.
Cons: Gas mileage isn't as good as it is supposed to be on the sticker. Pretty underpowered considering the new ones have 250 hp.
Overall review: It is a good car to get you places. It is good in snow considering it is a car so it is kind of light and it has AWD which is a nice added feature. Still I'd prefer to drive my mom's suburban in the snow over this. It is my first car and I think it is good for a first car but I'm getting a Yukon soon we might keep this or maybe sell it but Idk. It has been a great car though and it will be missed if it goes.
