The Car for all Seasons.
by Legacy Rally Guy on 12/18/2009.
Trim: 1991 Subaru Legacy Sport 4WD, Owned 4 years.

Pros:
1. Reliable (190,000 miles strong)
2. Has some pick up (160 Horse power)
3. Excellent handling: This car has always shrugged off the worst weather and in nice weather, it doesn't sacrifice comfort.
4. Styling, well, it's very 90's and boxy, but has a quirkiness that I love. There's something about a Subaru, that owners will agree on; you'll have many adventures on and off-road. Be prepared to get a bit choked up if/when you finally sell/trade it in. Even if you're getting another Subaru; you'll miss your old one.
5. Performance. Well, you can have slight upgrades or downright race prepped. Almost all the Subaru equipment is backwards compatible. Join a forum and see what I mean.
Cons:
1. The older turbo models don't exceptional fuel economy.
2. Few mechanics are well versed in Subarus, this may be a good thing too, as the hack job mechanics usually turn down the job. Sadly though, some great mechanics turn down the job as well.
3. If you hate to keep up on the simple maintenance, this car doesn't like neglect, oil passages will clog if oil isn't regularly changed and that means engine rebuild when a bearing lets loose.
4. The sunroof: Drain hoses became clogged and the seals were bad (after almost 20 years)
5. The American-mandate plastic headlights turn yellow/fog, Pick up a set of glass headlights from Europe and you're set.
6. It isn't exceptionally roomy
Overall review:
Be prepared to love this car. If you do, It will surely love you back. Depending on what you're looking to do, it's very likely the Sport Sedan is just right for the job. In terms of performance, with the sport sedans standard drive line's low center of gravity, limited slip rear end and all wheel drive, it sticks to the road like "s**t to a blanket."
Daily driving, you'll love it's safety and handling of nearly any weather you can find. See how many subarus are in Colorado! Off-road is doable with available lift kits, brush bars and good tires, it's funny to watch Jeep guys go jaw dropped as you drive past on their trails.
Would I-
-buy another Subaru Legacy? I own two- you bet!
-do it all over? All except the getting t-boned, YES! I didn't get a scratch, but I was bummed to see my car damaged. Dont worry, it's fixed now :)
And just watch those around you; friends, family and coworkers buy Subarus "randomly" once they see how much you love it. And welcome them to the family.

Pros:
I have had two of these Legacy SW, and they are great. I sold the first one and then was sorry I did. I got another one and love it. More room to haul things in back than the Outback, for sure. Good gas mileage too. Mine has 112,000 miles and purs like a kitten.
Cons:
Can't think of anything dislike. Oh, no CD player, at this age they may have not had them, like todays new models.
Overall review:
This is a great car, goes up the ski hill fine, never have to worry about not making it with 4-wheel dr. I never worry about it in winter driving.
