Saabina still going strong by KC in RI on 03/18/2011. Trim: 1997 Saab 900 SE Turbo sedan, Owned 8 years.
Pros: 216,000 miles and going strong. Very reliable, sturdy, solid, comfortable. Great fuel economy, huge trunk, fast on highways, safe, stylish, great value.
Cons: Seat heater not warm enough, no armrest or cup holder. Can be expensive to maintain, trade off is more fun to drive, premium fuel good/bad: I have put regular unleaded and noticed a drop in fuel economy.
Overall review: I have had this car for 8 years. I expect to have had some big repairs with high mileage; annually about $1500 so far. She runs great and has been a very very reliable, I love this car.

Much to consider... by Andy from Berlin on 03/30/2005. Trim: 1997 Saab 900 S sedan, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Saab makes a great automobile, and the 900 shows that. Excellent features and options, sturdy design and performance. If well maintained and serviced, the 900 will run forever, 300K miles is not unheard of with this car. Makes driving an experience everytime, great for roadtrips, good city MPG and comfortable rides in the country. Hatchback offers good space. Leather interior, extra features such as heated seats, Sport and Winter drive modes and a moonroof offer a luxory feel.
Cons: The pre-owned 900 will most always need a headgasket replacement, most likley a transmission change and expensive repairs will always pop up when your not prepared. The pre-owned 900 is dangerous if just slighty neglected. A multitude of small repairs become evident after driving the vehicle just after a few weeks. O2 sensors, belts and pullies, coolant and oil leaks and weather stripping are just a few. The price tag for repairs is much higher and most should be do-it-yourself projects to save from paying an arm and a leg in labor and foriegn parts.
Overall review: For a short term pre-owned used car, it is a horrible investment (if any car is a good investment?) However, if you are looking for a long term, pre-owned, reliable automobile with a little extra money to spare and some dedication, the 900 series will take you far. Long or short distance traveling this car is suited well. Very comfortable and reliable when maintained and not neglected by the owner. Over all, with all considerations, the '94 -'98 900S would rank at a 7.5 out of 10 in my opinion.

Ultimate driving machine not old BMW alone; SAAB as well by Driver from Philly on 11/20/2012. Trim: 1997 Saab 900 S sedan, Owned 4 years.
Pros: acceleration, speed like turbo, and smooth handling
Cons: Occasionally engine does not want to start although ultimately starts after waiting sometime
Overall review: Overall a fine Swedish car to drive with occasional expenses to repair like other old cars repair cost whether it is related to Toyota or Honda old cars.

A great compact car. by KB on 05/18/2012. Trim: 1997 Saab 900 SE Turbo coupe, Owned 5 years.
Pros: Very reliable, easy to work on, loaded with features.
Cons: 1st gear leaves more to be desired. Off the line, it feels like a boat. Once you get going, and the turbo spins up, second and third gear feel much better.
Overall review: I've loved this car, it has been good to me. I'll miss my 900 SE when it's finally time to go.
