Bye bye Saab by Saab guy from Northeast on 01/05/2008. Trim: 1996 Saab 900 SE Turbo convertible, Owned 4 years.
2
Pros: I like the look, the fact that I can carry 4 passengers and the sound system.
Cons: My guess is that Saab will be extinct in the very near future. Why do I say that? Every Saab has the same problems yet the manufacturer ignores them. I've had 4 saabs...three 900's and a 9-3. Every car I owned had problems with the AC, the radio antenna motor and the windows. Folks, these are not hard things to perfect...especially something as simple as a radio antenna. People know about these problems and the expense of fixing them so less and less people are buying the cars. Resale values are ridiculously low...I mean ridiculous. Its a shame. Great cars but the manufacturer doesn't care. If every saab in America has the same 3 problems, maybe a recall would be in order?
Overall review: Overall, I like the car but I have a hard time recommending it to anyone and I think I've bought my last one.

a good car by steve on 03/15/2006. Trim: 1996 Saab 900 SE Turbo 4-Door hatchback, Owned 1 year.

Pros: the car has a lot of pros. first of all, the engine is smooth and powerfl and provides adequate fuel economy if you can avoid kicking the turbo on full all the time. the car looks good and drives well. i love that it came fully loaded with a moonroof, leather, and a 6 disc cd changer although it doesnt work all the time.
Cons: the electric system in the car is not the greatest. if have only ha the car for 2k miles, and have had the moonroof break, alternator go, headlight relay go, and a few other minor problems. otherwise it has been trouble free so far. the ride is also kind of stiff, and i wish it were a little less so. the trunk has also leaked since day one, although i dont think this is a wide spread problem because i have determined that the car was damaged where the water is comeing from.and, for people who live where there is snow, the snow and rain freezes around the antenna in the winter and it will not work, which basically puts the radio out of commission until it melts.
Overall review: good car if you must have it. its fast, comfortable and looks nice. if you can handle the relitively minor problems and the annoyance of finding a saab specialist for the work you need because most garages wont work on saabs. good in the snow too except for the radio thing.

Classy but not glitzy by MortgageGuy from St. Louis MO on 06/23/2004. Trim: 1996 Saab 900 S convertible, Owned 1 year.

Pros: This is by far the smoothest looking convertible in this class. It is very inexpensive when bought used compared to other convertibles in the class. I also like quiet engine and comfortable ride. Sound system is very good. Back seats can actually be used, even by an adult! Classy but not glitzy!
Cons: I have an automatic, and there is no place to put your left foot (I assume it must be different with a 5 speed). The steering wheel is too low so my left foot always sits in an ackward position. With top up, windows rattle. Service for the top (motors, accesories) is VERY expensive. Leather on the seats is not of a good quality.
Overall review: I would definitely recomend it now that I have owned it long enough to have felt it's qualities and quirks. New SAAB convertibles are dearly expensive, and it looks like they do not hold value that well. Wait for few years and buy it used, you will get a great car that looks, drives and sounds great, for much less. This car is loved amongst people who know what SAAB is. Many people will not even bother to try it just because the name does not bring the prestige of other european brands, but that is a mistake. It is one of the best in the bunch.

Good for me.... by Candy from NH on 10/31/2001. Trim: 1996 Saab 900 SE Turbo 2-Door hatchback, Owned 2 years.

Pros: Rides & handles like as a sports car should. Really good in the snow- love the extra traction
Cons: too sensitive electronics...changing the battery can be a life altering occurance.
Overall review: Would recommend to someone who needs the extra power & likes creature comforts too.
