The dependable truck by MJ from Detroit on 02/23/2008. Trim: 1990 Nissan Pathfinder XE 4-door 4WD, Owned 1 year.
2
Pros: engin is very relaible and almost no problems to report on it. AC works well, as does the heat get hot fast when it is cold. very ergononmic for a car of the early 90's.
Cons: As is with most Nissans that I've either worked on or owned, they tend to have a wiring problem that messes with the instrument panel lighting or the switches on the doors.
Overall review: Very depenable SUV, good for college students or for people that love to go off-roading. All wheel drive system is excelent

Buy it for the long haul....... by An MSN Autos Consumer on 04/19/2005. Trim: 1990 Nissan Pathfinder XE 4-door 4WD, Owned 8 years.
1
Pros: Durability and reliability. I've reached 350,000km with no major problems. DYI maintenance and repair is relatively easy. It is a good off-roader that won't leave you stranded.
Cons: Engine is underpowered, legroom is limited, and seats are uncomfortable for long trips. As well, having to change the timimg belt every 100K is a necessary annoyance.
Overall review: With basic regular maintenance this vehicle will serve you well for a long time. The Pathfinder is at the top of my list when it comes to retire my mule.

200,000 MILES- ORIGINAL EVERYTHING by MATEO FROM AZ on 05/19/2004. Trim: 1990 Nissan Pathfinder SE Sport Utility, Owned more than 10 years.
1
Pros: My '90 has 199k miles on the original engine, tranny and everything. I love it. No major repairs to speak of. can off road with the best, the low range works awsome. love the stylish boxy look that is gone from modern SUV's today. Still has a smooth running engine and ac still working even in the hot summers in AZ! nice handeling on freeways. I've been in 5 accidents with it and the other cars got way more damage. Lots of room the back when seats are folded down. get one with the spare tire swing, it's worth it. Verry glossy paint. All around a quality vehicle, I've definately gotten my money's worth. Money well spent!!!
Cons: Has all the power of a leaf blower! I turn my ac off when I hit the on ramp for the freeway, it just can't hit 65 in time with the other traffic. Poor gas mileage, but expected. Weighing in at over 4,000lbs it's heavy for a mid-sized SUV. Around 150k miles the door locks like to play games and around 120k miles the wire for overdrive might come loose
Overall review: If you get a 4door, make sure you put limo tint and wax the heck out of it. It looks so nice and glossy, it's worth it. Aside from not having enough power to compete with today's SUV's, it's a solid buy

SE V6 with 5-speed manual transmission by Skier from Golden, CO on 11/10/2003. Trim: 1990 Nissan Pathfinder SE Sport Utility, Owned more than 10 years.
1
Pros: It is a solid over-the-highway and four-wheel-drive trail performer with a five-speed manual transmission, four-wheel disk brakes, and body-on-frame construction. The sport-touring shock absorbers give this rig a bit more control and ride flexibility. Mechanical problems encountered during the 105,000 miles since new I have driven this rig have been adequately repaired by the local dealer.
Cons: The 153 hp engine is a bit under-powered for high altitude, 6,000 to 12,000 feet above sea level. Installation of a Jacobs electronic ignition helped the midrange performance, however. The 42-ft turning circle has resulted in some backing and turning on some tight switchbacks. The transmission had to be rebuilt at 70,000 miles (out of warranty) due to the failure of a spring clip for the synchronizer gear; only reverse gear was lost, though.
Overall review: Basically this rig has taken me reliably over some pretty rough country in Colorado, Utah, Alberta, and British Columbia and made an uneventful round trip to Alaska. Highway handling is on a par with a normal family sedan. The fuel mileage with regular gasoline has averaged about 20 mpg.

Best Bargan SUV in the 90's by 90Pathfinder from Texas on 06/16/2003. Trim: 1990 Nissan Pathfinder SE Sport Utility, Owned more than 10 years.
1
Pros: I own one and it has over 240,000 miles on it! It can still go over 80 mph and punch 95 mph at its old age. Best of all if you ever need to replace a part Nissan will still have it. Nissan builds cars that last so you get more than your moneys worth!
Cons: (No data provided)
Overall review: Very good SUV
