very unreliable car
by Abbey from Johnson City, TN on 07/19/2003.
Trim: 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage LS coupe, Owned less than 1 year.
1
Pros:
(No data provided)
Cons:
I owned this car for a very short period of time because it caused me so many problems. Within 2 weeks of purchase, I had to have the transmission replaced. Later, the electrical system shorted several times (the previous owner had it replaced and didn't tell us or the dealership).
Overall review:
I had this car for about 70 days (and it was only drivable for about 40 of those days). This was my very first car and has given me a bad impression on used cars. I have also become paranoid about transmission problems. Once it started to have electrical problems, I refused to drive it at all in fear that I would be stranded. The transmission began to act up again right before I got rid of it.

Problematic Car
by FTownStylez from Florida on 01/21/2003.
Trim: 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage S coupe, Owned 2 years.
1
Pros:
good on fuel, lightweight, and cheap to buy used.
Cons:
Had to put in 3 transmissions so far (not from nuetral drops or racing the car), heater never really gets hot on cold days, NO HORSEPOWER, and wouldn't recommend to take on long trips.
Overall review:
The cons outweigh the pros by a lot. With the money in just transmissions I could have bought a better car. The horsepower rating is embarrassing, when I go through the mountains in Virginia every 3 months for college, the car can't even do the speed limit. I recommend saving some money and buying a better car.

Thrifty comfortable sedan
by Swansong from Columbia, MO on 10/24/2002.
Trim: 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage S coupe, Owned 2 years.
1
Pros:
Plenty of head and leg room. Excellent gas mileage, loaded with 4 adults and luggage on the interstate averaged over 42 mpg. Also, pretty comfortable on the long haul.
Cons:
This car does not appear "sporty" or any where close to a head turner. If you are looking at a Mirage, do it for your wallet, not the attention.
Overall review:
Would recommend, especially for those who do not have a lot of bucks to spend on purchase or maintenance or gas
