Great SUV for someone with mechanical skills by An MSN Autos Consumer on 02/05/2009. Trim: 1994 Mitsubishi Montero LS, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Nice looking SUV - rides nice and high. Easy to see a child in a car seat while driving. Comfortable seats. Easy to work on on similiar engine to the Ford Broncos 2.8 & 2.9 liter engines. Stearing is great - nice and tight on bouncy roads. Decent gas mileage for a V6. No blind spots - able to view out all windows without any obstructions. Audio system is incredible even at 15 years old - great bass for a stock system.
Cons: Gutless while accelerating up hill. Definitely would of benifited from more horsepower.
Overall review: This is a great SUV/truck - but I would definitely recommend it to someone who has knowledge of working on vehicles and enjoys working on vehicles. Seems to need a lot of TLC. Other than that it is a great SUV with lots of cargo space. I have had a Bronco II, Jeep Cherokee, Jimmy, and K5 Blazer and it definitely performs as well as the others if not better.

Dakar" durability plays well in Minnesota by KWK from Vadnais Heights, Mn. on 12/07/2003. Trim: 1994 Mitsubishi Montero SR, Owned 9 years.
Pros: Rock solid durability, very capable off-road, while providing acceptable on-road performance. Safe and secure as anything on the road. More versatile than a mini-van (has towing capability). Only equipment failure in 180,000 miles has been the power steering pump (at 10,000 miles, while still under warranty). Am still on the original exhaust system!
Cons: Could use a little more power, rear hatch door should open from the bottom up, instead of the current large door with hinges on the right side (which incidentally is inconvenient when loading/unloading at curbside).
Overall review: Overall, I can't complain. It's been a great all around vehicle that still cleans up pretty good after nine+ years of ownership.
