" Love - Hate" Relationship- by Tamara from Indiana on 04/29/2006. Trim: 1998 Mercury Sable LS, Owned 8 years.
Pros: Its got a high end price look and feel. Comfortable Interior,Good sound system, good acceleration and stable road handling .
Cons: I have had to repair so many things on this car I truly cannot remember them all, But the most recent and most devastating was the $2300.00 I spent on having my transmission rebuilt. I am also currently having a lot of odd electrical problems.
Overall review: If you like spending all of your hard earned money on keeping your car rolling down the road, then this car is for you....

I would definitely buy another by Vern from Canton MA on 09/12/2004. Trim: 1998 Mercury Sable LS, Owned 6 years.
Pros: Excellent highway car.
Cons: A little hard getting in & out of the back seat without whacking your head for people of all sizes. The overall headroom problem has been taken care of in the newer models.
Overall review: Excellent car very reliable, good in the snow and I would definitely buy another.

Car with a caveat by Marshall on 10/30/2002. Trim: 1998 Mercury Sable LS, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Comfortable ride. Roomy interior. Handles well for car this size. Reasonable gas mileage. Large trunk. The flip up center front that can seat an extra person over a short distance.
Cons: Seats could be more comfortable, the lumbar support in the LS makes the seats less uncomfortable. Difficult to see the hood. Positioning of the airconditioner's vents. Brakes are not particularly good. Rear brakes wore out before the front brakes and caused some damage.
Overall review: Reluctant to recommend any Ford product after the problem I had with a 1994 Taurus. The transmission went at about 74,000 miles. Although that was the only problem I had with the car, Ford would not admit to a problem that was publicized on the internet. This car has between 45,000 and 50,000 miles. I am holding my breath.
