Awesome "big" bodied V8 by Kevin from Comfort, TX on 06/02/2011. Trim: 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis GS, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: Throttle response is awesome, trunk space, as well as interior space is excellent for taller people. Power seat adjustment on the driver's door is good because you can see the controls, rather than having to hunt for them. Double arm rests in the front come in handy if you have cargo in the front or a person in the front that wants it up, but you don't. V8 makes the car more able to pass other vehicles quickly. Ride quality is amazingly smooth and quiet.
Cons: The fact that I'm only borrowing i from a family member and since it has the V8, it doesn't get good gas mileage driving up and down the hills of Texas, or when passing.
Overall review: I would recommend this vehicle, even after the cruise control recall, being that it is the only major issue my family has ever had with the vehicle, other than wear and tear, which isn't much as it only has 78,xxx miles on it, but it rons and drives smooth and has lots of room and power for stuff.

Great Car by Trent on 03/31/2009. Trim: 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: the power of the 4.6l V8 motor and the way it handles as well rides.
Cons: Ford was in a law suit and any car that has the 4.6l V8 motors from 1996 to 2000 have problems with there manifolds. they will break and cause the antifreeze to go everywhere. Make sure you buy the the manifold with aluminum coolant Crossover. Its a 250.00$ part and five hours of labor. That will take care of the manifold breaking again.
Overall review: I love how my 97 ls rids and handles great. the comfort is great. Couldn't ask for any better car that still has v8 motor with back wheel drive.

This car saved my life... by Tropicalfishguy on 01/05/2011. Trim: 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Very reliable. I would take it anyhere without worry. Even with 200,000 plus miles.
Cons: The plastic intake manifold on the engine wasn't covered by a similar recall for the Crown Victoria.
Overall review: THE best car I've ever owned. The Mercury brand will be missed.

Another Flop by Disappointed in Nebraska on 05/01/2004. Trim: 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis LS, Owned 1 year.
Pros: rides and drives good. fair on gas.
Cons: front passenger side seat sets low to the floor. poor padding. not comfy at all. Intake manifold cracked at 65,000 miles. Plastic window gears had to be replaced at 50,000.
Overall review: Will never own another 97 grand marquis.
