Mean Machine by M rdstr from Cincinnati on 10/01/2003. Trim: 1999 BMW M Roadster, Owned 4 years.
Pros: A true drivers car. Handling is superb, acceleration fantastic. Ride stiff, as it should be, but not too killing. You feel the road. Amazing acceleration, even in 5th gear!
Cons: On third set of tires already (41,000 miles). Factory tires were a joke, kept getting flats. New tires are Michelin, and they are fantastic. Highly recommend. Stereo not up to expectations.
Overall review: I love my car! Bought the hard top and drive it in the winter, except on ice or snow. Made to be driven, not stored in garage!

Maximum FUN by Top Down in Honolulu on 04/16/2002. Trim: 1999 BMW M Roadster, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Did I say "Quick?" After almost 3 years living with my M, I have had no problems, miles of driving fun. Can't take the thing out without getting complements, envious stares, and thumbs-up's... This car is awsome. Too bad the 2002 Model Year will be the last. If you have one, HOLD ON TO IT. They will be collector's cars. Nothing else for the money can equal the performance and outright fun of an M Roadster.
Cons: Rear plastic window is cheap. Needs to be glass, but there's no room for one. Rarely drive with top up anyway here in Honolulu. Subwoofer rattles at high volume settings. Turn off radio and enjoy the growl of the smoothest in-line 6 on the planet. Very small trunk. (Good excuse to make another trip to the grocery store)
Overall review: This is the most fun you can have with your pants on - EVER! A stunning car- a rocket - a go-kart with a stereo - Spine compressing acceleration. If you can find one, at least go for a ride with someone who knows how to drive it. You will be scared. You will be electrified. You will throw rocks at anything else within $40,000 of it.

Better than 996 Turbo, 996C2, Boxter, S2000 or SLK by Steve on 01/18/2002. Trim: 1999 BMW M Roadster, Owned 1 year.
Pros: This is my 2nd M Roadster..it costs 20% of my previous Porsche 996 Turbo, and 50% of my 996 C2...but it is a lot more fun. I've got the european version (321 hp) which gives the car approx same accelerationh as the 996 C2. The 996 Turbo is faster, but you can't feel it. The M Roadster is a Go-Cart with a lot more space than MB SLK , S2000 or Boxter, and a non-comparable speed & acceleration. Space is available below the cab, once it is up. I placed 20 bottles of champagne from France to Sweden there!
Cons: No place for golf bag except passenger seat
Overall review: Best price / performance / design. Choose the imola red with Schnitzer aluminium pedals, it's the nicest!
