Pretty on the outside, but disappointing over the years. by ex-MB enthusiast on 03/08/2010. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Roadster, Owned 10 years.

Pros: The car is cute, nice to look at. The convertible top works OK.
Cons: I bought it used w/ 40,000 miles several years ago. At the start, so many minor things started going wrong. A few lights in the dash went out, the electronic side mirror is floppy, the radio antinae quit recoiling, the front bumper is so low it catches on everything, rear view mirror is jiggly, the interior is very basic, it takes two people to remove the hard top and you have to have buy a rack for storage. Mechanically, it has been more costly than my previous Porsche or Cadillacs with water pumps, etc.
Overall review: I will never own another Mercedes.

Classic sports car. by A MSN Autos Consumer on 11/15/2002. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Roadster, Owned 1 year.

Pros: the styling is very eye catching, the finish and assembly of the vehicle is excellent. great fuel economy in the sl320 with the top down and up. soft top performs excellent.
Cons: This verhicle is not "short" in length and the cabin does not have enough leg room for tall persons, the seats do not go back far enough to enable proper comfort for taller persons. when moving the seats back, the seat will adjust the back of the seat up so the person sits upright.
Overall review: great car for average height persons. extremely reliable and very fun to drive.

Ultimate sports/luxury car by Bill from Chi-town on 03/06/2004. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz SL320 Roadster, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Outstanding luxury sports car. Still turns heads 8 years later. Fairly quick, great top & hard top seals like a sedan.
Cons: could have more leg room, and the ability to put the seat back further. As a result, the interior feels crampt. Visability is very good with the hardtop, but has blind spots with the rag. Also, back window is plastic, so visability is not great. Rear window defogger with hardtop is ineffective.
Overall review: Outstanding quality, but you pay for it. Used prices hold up well.
