Black Beauty by BLACK/TAN 96 E320 on 08/22/2007. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320, Owned 3 years.

Pros: A very well engineered and well built vehicle. Just leave automotive production to the Germans already!
Cons: If you can perform the routine maintinance stuff on the car, you'll love it. Car is very easy to work on, very straight forward, and lots of info on the web on how-to sites to help you along. If you bring a car to the dealership or a mechanic for every little hiccup, this definately is not the car for you!
Overall review: Fun to drive, very stylish, great performance, excellent value for the money. I love mine.

Go with the Benz by An MSN Autos Consumer on 01/02/2004. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320, Owned 3 years.

Pros: The E320 is a very spacious, solid, and classic auto. It's very comfortable to drive for both my wife at 5'3 and myself at 6'2. Relatively few problems at 150k miles but more problems than our 300D with 350k miles.
Cons: It doesn't lack power but expected a little more from a large luxury car. The E430 may be a better choice for the more aggressive driver. Blower motor is showing signs of needing a 2nd repair (replaced earlier in the year at over $800, hopefully the replacement part had a limited warranty).
Overall review: You'll get a much better deal and overall satisfaction buying a used E class compared to brand new similarly priced car.

Not as relaible as I wanted for a reirement vehicle by Mike, Centerville, TX on 10/11/2002. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E300D, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros: Style, Comfort, Ease of handling, mileage
Cons: Glow plug failure at less than 37000 miles. After 2 MB's each with almost 200K miles and no problems thought this would be a good reliable replacement. ALL DIESELS. Cost of 6 plugs, labor etc. $1450.00. MB refuses to acknowledge problem with design or training of maintenance personnel. All the way to Prof. Juergen Hubbert at MB in Stuttgart.
Overall review: Question design of plugs which require replacement of lines to plugs. MB states the lines leak if replaced. Seems to me a poor design or inadequate training of personnel in removing lines to begin with. What is the difference between the old lines at less than 37000 miles and a new line?

Famous Car? by Bellevue, WA on 02/19/2002. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros: (No data provided)
Cons: Part's Quality (this car parked in garage most of time): at 20,000 miles power antanna motor went bad $325+tax; at 8,000 miles autoclimate control solenoid started making constant noise even after a replacement and dealer said it is always like this (does this sound like a world class manufactor to you?) also, Tin plating at tail light circuit board assembly was too thin and wore off too quick after a few light bulbs replacement, and caused one brake light to became unfunctional.
Overall review: E320 (at least the one I own) is a famous powerful car but sometimes I wonder partwise its quality is just so so

Nice luxury car by Putera_J on 05/17/2001. Trim: 1996 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320, Owned 2 years.
1
Pros: Even though it's been driven for 4 years this car is still in good condition, no problems at all. just the normal tune-ups and oil change. The paint is still shiny just like new. Good sound system and climate control.Has a good acceleration.
Cons: The rear end brake light bulbs don't last too long
Overall review: I really like this car, it's very comfortable and has a good handling for a car it's size. The fuel economy is standard for normal city driving. I feel very confident driving this car, it looks good, and best of all is you know you're driving a Mercedes -Benz.
