Good luxury mid-size sedan by Hodji from Seattle on 02/06/2004. Trim: 1994 Mercedes-Benz C280, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Smooth engine and transmission shifts. Very quiet running car. Nice Bose sound. Good handling via RWD configuration. Great interior ergonomics and styling (although I'm reading to chuck the cassette tape storage cubby).
Cons: Luxury transmission shift points; which means acceleration builds slowly and transmission kick down is slow. Feel good acceleration at higher RPMs (5000). Other car is Volvo 850 turbo and you can't beat that 40-75 mph acceleration (I guess 0-60 as well). Wish defrost had variable fan control rather than HI fan speed.
Overall review: Bought one owner trade-in with 150K on it for $8500. Engine will go on forever with minimal care. Great luxury ride and image for a ten year old car and it doesn't look dated. Try to tell people that I bought it for the deal and they never believe me. Debating on whether to keep car for long term and go for wheel and tire upgrades. European Car magazine running project car series on this model. Can't wait to see what the editor does to his car.

"The ultimate Real Estate Vehicle" by Judy on 03/29/2006. Trim: 1994 Mercedes-Benz C280, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros: It still rides great. Looks good for age
Cons: Engin Light stays on, have had electronic componet replaced, reset, but still comes on. Repair work is very expensive. Have 244,000 miles on my car
Overall review: Good car. Do not know of any car that could have stood the test I have put it through. Have had electrical problems on occasion

Check the wire harness ... It will need to be replaced! by EZ from TX. on 07/08/2005. Trim: 1994 Mercedes-Benz C220, Owned 2 years.

Pros: I love the quietness of the interior, the location and ease of use of the controls. Fit and finish are great in this car. Good gas mileage almost 28 mpg.
Cons: Repair cost. I had to replace the wire harness and a bunch of other parts. The wire harness, as I was told by my mechanic, is made by design, in such a way that the insulation is biodegradable and is supposed to break down after 10 years... well some break down sooner and some later but eventually the harness will have to be replaced in the 1994 Mercedes models (there is a range of years affected but you will have to ask a Mercedes service tech what years). The cost for the harness is $700 range and the labor for my car was $500. The W202 C-Class chassis is also known to have problems with the harmonic balancer, but it is a recall fix, and the right side lower control arm bushings.
Overall review: I love the car ... when it is running it is a wonderful piece of German engineering but repairs and parts are costly.

What a Dog by Dan from Portland on 02/24/2005. Trim: 1994 Mercedes-Benz C220, Owned 6 years.

Pros: Owned this car for 5+ years. It drives and handles fairly well. It has decent acceleration and gets good gas mileage. Outside body looks great. Interior & body is holding up well, if you ignore having to replace the door hinges and check straps, the control stalks for the turn signals and the cruise control, the visor mirror hinges, and the AC air vents.
Cons: Full list would be too long, but includes very high cost of replacement parts & service. Major issues include persistent "Check Engine" light with multiple diagnosies and no real fix in sight unless our most recent replacements of the engine wiring harness, adjustable camshaft timing sensor, MAS air flow module, and computer has solved it. For example, the MB wiring harness would absolutely embarass any competent engineer/designer in the automotive world...the wiring insulation was brittle/white/breaking/broken and all falling apart and the wires themselves were breaking and brittle. Superior engineering & design from Mercedes? Mercedes pretends no knowledge, but reports say otherwise.
Overall review: I hope my candid review doesn't prevent someone from buying ours. I can see why people keep these cars forever. You are required to replace the parts at such expense and so rapidly that you keep believing that surely you've replace it all and that nothing else could possibly go wrong. And then the next absolutely necessary repair occurs, and you think, "Well, it's almost all new now, so I should keep it another month." So that's how it's been since 75000 miles (now at about 120000). I've never owned worse, and I've had a few really bad ones. This even tops my 1985 Audi 5000 Turbo.

Pros: i love that i can actually go 350 miles on a full tank of gas...in this age where the gas is getting high , i love the fact that i dont have to re-fuel it as much
Cons: the only think i dislike is the price to fix something is expensive...But!!, if u can afford the car, u can afford to maintain it
Overall review: i love this car C-220 plus it maintains its value
