Best overall sports car I have ever owned by Mark on 12/31/2013. Trim: 1998 BMW Z3 2.8, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Having owned 8 sports cars over the last 25 years. this one is the best. The 2.8L inline 6 is a very gutsy engine, and smooth as silk. Handling is excellent, and the car simply is fun to drive. The two closest cars I have owned are the Mazda Miata, and the Triumph TR250. The Miata had an excellent feel, and you felt that the car was an extension of you; it went wherever you expected it to without question. The Z3 takes a bit more work to reach the same level. The Miata had poor power, and the Z3 would run circles around it in a race. The TR250 was my favorite sports car, until The Z3 came along. Both have good power. Both are a blast. The Z3 handles so much better, it wins as my favorite.
Cons: Minimal trunk space, and a poor stereo are the only two drawbacks.
Overall review: Get one while they are still available.

Classy Sports Car by Kool from KY on 08/25/2004. Trim: 1998 BMW Z3 1.9, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Mostly everything. It rides great, handles great, sounds great and looks great!
Cons: The sounds system could be stronger especially when driving with the top down. Could use an ashtray especially since there's a lighter.
Overall review: It's truly a classy sports car. Sure it could use more power but's there's enough for me. It's great to get compliments almost everytime I drive it. I will be driving this car for many many years!

...Happiness is the corner. by Al - Philadelphia, PA on 07/29/2004. Trim: 1998 BMW Z3 2.8, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Drives fast, easy to wash, looks classy, heated seats with the top open, lots of enthusiasts on the web to talk to, tape player works great with my IPod, roll bars and air bags make me feel safe while flying down the highway, shifts gears like a Porsche, draws compliments from all kinds of people, the shark gills, the long nose, the upgraded 17
Cons: Caring for the rag top with the plastic window, gas gauge flickers when the gas tank is topped off, black paint seems to chip easily, lack of missle launchers.
Overall review: One of the greatest convertible sports cars available in it's class. It has inspired me to save up for a Porsche Boxster. I wonder how much of the car is made in North Carolina? Good luck finding yours!

A true Roadster by TG Baltimore MD on 07/16/2004. Trim: 1998 BMW Z3 1.9, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Appearance, convertible top, uniqueness, fun quotient, gas mileage.
Cons: Front end a touch long. Original AM/FM casette stereo leaves much to be desired.
Overall review: An awesome car; a true Roadster in every sense of the word; hugs the road; can't help but smile as you drive the Z3 with the top down; the 1.9L is more than adequate, the 2.3L is much overhyped.

Better than zoom zoom by CAMA on 04/12/2004. Trim: 1998 BMW Z3 2.8, Owned 3 years.
Pros: Driveability, strong performance, quiet drive
Cons: High maintenance cost at dealership. Poor visability with the top up.
Overall review: This is a great weekend car, but not designed for daily driving especially with the top up. I bought a Mazda Miata first and although it handled well, road noise was really bad. Couldn't listen to the radio or hold a normal conversation with the top down. Test drove the Z3 and what a difference. Performance was much better and road noise was normal. Sold the Miata and traded up to the Z3. So much for zoom, zoom.
