Super Sport by Chuck on 06/23/2010. Trim: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base, Owned 2 years.

Pros: This car is a kick in the tail to drive. Nothing like the wind in your hair and a 20 year old car purring under you. Holds the road like it is glued to it. Hard to believe that a convertable has an excelllent air conditioner, but this car does. Heater is also excellent.
Cons: Watch out for the date of engine manufactire - I got stuck with a bad timing belt/crankshaft and ended up having to get a different engine. Make sure you follow the service of the timing belt. The electrical system can be difficult to supply the window motors and interior lifghts.
Overall review: I probably have more ion the car than it is worth. But I think I will be buried in it. Lots of fun. 30+ miles to the gallon at 60+ mph.

Twenty Years of extended youth! by Retired, go around me...if you can catch me! on 03/25/2010. Trim: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros: After 20 years, I still love driving it, & people can't believe it's a 1990 car!
Cons: Not a thing.
Overall review: My Miata looks as good as it did in Jan 1990...when I first drove it home from the dealer. It's an amazing machine & everything still works...air, flip up headlight covers, power windows, cruise control, clutch...even the adrenalin rush !!!

fun in the sun by seattle on 01/12/2004. Trim: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base, Owned 6 years.
1
Pros: looks, handling, economy of operation
Cons: Some of the hardware is a little flimsy. Tiny trunk. What is with the spark plug wires needing replacement at only 30,000 miles?
Overall review: Fun for less. Cheap and reliable.

Inexpensive FUN! by Les from Marysville, WA on 09/07/2001. Trim: 1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata Base, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros: You just can't beat top down motoring in a red sports car. After washing and waxing the thing, even after rather faded paint (it's our everyother day driver) and eleven years of ownership, it is still fun, still gets comments from "spectators", and runs very well. We have the hard-top which has allowed us to keep our soft-top in reasonably good condition. It has a tear in the middle which we "fixed with a ton of epoxy glue. When the top is down or the hard top is on, no one can even notice! The plastic rear window is still clear and pliable, though this seems to be from proper care.
Cons: Its mileage has proven to be not as good as you might expect from a small car like this, maybe this is from the spirited driving the car encourages? :-) The trunk room is very small and poorly laid out. It doesn't like driving in snow (but who does?). The radio has not lasted. The radio has always had a problem with dampness (real bad here in the Pacific Northwest) that kept it from turning on until the interior warmed up. The passenger side power window cable broke. I had to buy the whole motor assembly instead of just being able to buy the much cheaper cable. Mazda had them back ordered for months, natch.
Overall review: We have owned the car since new and we love it! We don't have any plans to sell it though our family has out grown it, and we have three other cars. I use it mostly as a commuter car, and it goes on the occasional date with me and my wife. It has been largely trouble free, and I highly recommend it to anyone! Test fit yourself first, though, as many taller people don't fit very well.
