The forgotten BWMER by stuck in first on 12/15/2007. Trim: 1996 BMW 840Ci, Owned 5 years.

Pros: 155 mph for real and its is governed at that point
Cons: expensive, however like cars of this type it value has already seen the bottom and is begining to rise
Overall review: not for everyday, but it is a head turner with great speed and stability. Not for the faint of heart or pocketbook

truly --- THE ultimate driving machine by Merlin4SC, LA, CA on 08/11/2003. Trim: 1996 BMW 850Ci, Owned 1 year.

Pros: Best technology available in the 90's. For a V-12 that makes a conservative 322 hp, you can achieve remarkable fuel economy -- have been gettin 22.5 mpg on the flat level at 76 mph, optimum is about 79 mph, depending on what tires you have.
Cons: Don't try to mount too gummy a tire on the wheels or you willl wear out your suspension and steering bushings early. Car was designed to have a little push through a corner -- more predictable and wont spin out in bad conditions. Dont even bother with the soft ride setting on the electronic shocks. Too much roll and yaw allowed. That is if you dont mind the pitch amplification -- no liquids should be alllowed in the car!! When maneuvering, you need to disengage the Dynamic Stability Control, or it will de-throttle and even brake you when you are trying to power through a turn.
Overall review: Increadibly smooth. Take care of it and it will last forever. Forget the bad reviews about costs of maintenance. Think of it as scheduled and preventative. Doing little things before they become a crisis will make this as cheap as any car to keep up. Keep mirros clean and invest in a RADAR decector.!

Suave in German... by Jason on 06/16/2003. Trim: 1996 BMW 840Ci, Owned 1 year.
Useful?
Pros: Love the look and the interior fits like a glove. A GREAT road car.
Cons: Takes an hour to read the manual of how things work. Great once you know the details, but all the controls are not intuitive.
Overall review: Great road car. Effortless at any speed. Handles wonderfully.

a perfect german/italian blend by kracko on 01/08/2003. Trim: 1996 BMW 850Ci, Owned 4 years.
Useful?
Pros: people still stop and stare - even with all these new designs around. the interior feels like an aircraft cockpit. in spite of its weight, she's still one of the the fastest off the block...
Cons: the rear seats are a joke! my dealer makes a packet at every visit. parts can be a problem at times.
Overall review: i'll never sell this car :)
