Lost in limbo between a luxury car and a hot rod by Frank on 08/27/2006. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Continental Base, Owned 6 years.

Pros: This car has incredible accelaration, climate control system is above average, it is easy to park, highway fuel milage is way above average for a V-8, 27-28 average, the ride is very good, sound system is excellent, visability is good, plenty of leg room. Overall a very good car.
Cons: Air ride suspension tops the list of dislikes, handling with the front wheel drive is sloppy, transmission is fragile and unpredicible, the electronics are sometimes unpredicable, mirrors will not adjust properly, seats the same way when using the personal profile syatem. The brakes are poor, better start braking early. The cost of replacement parts is through the roof, absolutely rediculous.
Overall review: Overall this car is not the ultimate crusier nor is it a hot rod, even though the V-8 engine which is mounted transversely, claims to have 265 hp., the handling prevents the hot rod side of this car from showing it self. If it will be a car to set under the garage and drive sparingly, it will serve you well, ultimately the air ride suspension and transmission, and the transmission will cost between 2500 and 3000, will have to be replaced, better off changing to coil springs, and throw the air springs away.

Pros: Still very comfortable and stylish. The leather interior is a major upkeep
Cons: nothing
Overall review: If the doors opened wider in the back, it would be better

Buyer Beware! by Seriously Disappointed on 08/18/2004. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Continental Base, Owned 8 years.

Pros: Understated and handsome, lots of accessories but many of them useless, great acceleration, handling, braking. Comfy seats and good lumbar. Great JBL sound system.
Cons: Quality- a total lack of it. Transmission failure, A/C failure, Air suspension failure (twice), body colored door handle broke off in my hand, water pump, alternator, battery, radio, remote fuel door failure (twice). And that was all under extended warranty, thank you Lord. Ball joints, wheel bearings, popping noise when steering they never have figured out. Tight back seat for this much car.
Overall review: I will never, ever recommend that anyone buy a Continental. Lemon right out of the box. Lovely car when it works but that's not often. Can't wait to get rid of it and go back to something simple. Will never have air suspension again. A real shame because I love the handling, interior, comfort, and features. But I don't trust this car driving around the block. Trust me, don't buy one no matter how nice it seems, or be prepared to spend a fortune on repair.

Respectable blend of performance and luxury! by Zac Snell/ATL GA on 03/05/2004. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Continental Base, Owned 4 years.

Pros: Aggressive, attractive styling; great cruising car-- easily attains speed of 110mph and tops at 120mph; attractive dash with easily accessible controls; comfortable and roomy front seats.
Cons: Large turning radius; excessive hood length could have been better engineered to increase back seat room; phantom front end noise (hard to diagnose) during summer months when making full turns with steering wheel; low end torque but dramatically improves with agressive acceleration; drifty, frumpy ride; excessive road and external wind noise.
Overall review: Great Car!!! Awesome torque at high end speed!! Fun car to drive
