It's the Hot Rod Lincoln. by An MSN Autos Consumer on 08/05/2010. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII Base, Owned 8 years.
Pros: It's an all around great car. Great gas mileage, 28mpg freeway with the LSC engine.
Overall review: Wish it was still being made.

Still my baby @ (now) 152K by bearz1 on 03/24/2008. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII Base, Owned 8 years.
Pros: Update from 12/2002 - Still my baby @ 90k (now 152k) miles - still love it & hope that it will stay together for a long, long time.
Cons: I'm polishing the headlite plastic & installing brighter lowbeam bulbs (? if will help ?) Have had brake & electrical issues but I have great mechanic & he can solve most problems. The drivers seat support bracket (under seat) broke - 8 hrs. my labor + $35.00 welders fee to fix - dealer wanted $1200 to replace it. I can't find an 'in-dash' radio with 'cd player' that will replace the orig. cassette/radio (trunk cd changer is not real convenient) and the power antenna has died - and only a special factory replacement unit will work I'm told (? low voltage electrics & the way radio is wired ?) = more research needed.
Overall review: This is still my baby - she keeps rolling along with a great ride and still looks good - and minimal repair costs are cheaper than new car payments. BUY ONE if you can find a nice one - I met a man in a parking lot last week that had just found a black 1998, one owner, garage kept, etc., etc. with 45k miles for $4,000 - I offered him $6,500 cash right there & he wouldn't take it (I wonder why.)

Press the gas and pass with class by Shawn on 10/23/2007. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII Base, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: This baby will flat move! Great leather seats. Unique styling.
Cons: Transmission shifts into high gear and over drive way to soon and there's no true override system to bypass this.
Overall review: This car was overlooked by many. This is the second Mark VIII that I've owned and it will flat move on down the road. I love that! Take off, passing, you name the time and it will meet you there! Mine has 160,000 miles on it and starts every single time. No funny noises, no smoke, no leaks, and it doesn't use a drop of oil. There are some gadgets that go bad like the door lock accuator and power antenna, but overall this is a great car. Only buy one from an older person or someone who doesn't back out of the driveway, hold their foot on the brake and stomp it with the other foot all at the same time. The transmission in this car will not take this and young people don't know that!

Classy looks with performance to match! by cocexec from Lake George, NY on 03/17/2007. Trim: 1996 Lincoln Mark VIII Base, Owned 4 years.
Pros: This is my second Mark VIII and I'm buying another one! Terrific handling/performance, great looks, wrapped in comfort when driving and a head-turner. A true luxurious sport coupe of big proportions with good gas mileage. Has a fantastic 32V DOHC power plant! Hard to beat this overall package!
Cons: Air ride suspension is a continual headache. Expensive to replace and if not done right can cause additional problems. Maintenance parts are expensive. However, if you maintain properly, provides a long life of fun driving.
Overall review: Now having owned 3 Mark VIII's, I can't say enough good about them....they're the best performance sport coupe for the money ever built!
