Classic styling combined with outstanding driveability

Pros:
Styling is outstanding - one of the best looking cars on the road. Front drivers seat is especially comfortable. I love the smooth and responsive acceleration, especially at freeway speeds. I recently drove across the US and it was a pleasure to drive, even across the Rockies where the traction control kept the car in control even through ice and snow. And I love the Nagamichi sound system.
Cons:
Additional storage space in the cabin would nice and cupholders are inadequate for all but small drinks. There is less leg room for passenger than driver. Also, acceleration at slow speeds sometimes seemed delayed -- although this can be compensated for by selecting power mode.
Overall review:
I couldn't be happier with my choice of this vehicle. A true luxury sports coupe with a classic design.

Super Luxury Touring Coupe

Pros:
This car provides an exquisite blend of quality, styling, luxury and sport. Note quality listed first. The car is a prime example that other cars have tried to live up to in all those areas. Warn mechanics and anyone else who drives it because my emission inspector almost crashed my car twice because the gas pedal is so sensitive. The most amazing thing is how smooth the automatic transmission changes gears, it is imperceptible! It feels like one long huge gear and you are revving it all the way up on that one gear. At normal 35mph speeds the car is silent and when you floor it you can hear the voluptuous V8 purr, roaring the car down the road in an adrenaline rush that gets me EVERY time.
Cons:
The expensive upkeep costs. Lexus will charge you $70 for an oil change, so if you have someone else to goto for regular maintenance, do so, but goto Lexus for the bigger maintenance duties. Other than that there should be no maintenance woes from this car, just look at the J.D. Power and Associates listing of highest reliability cars, Lexus is numero uno, and has been for the past many years.
Overall review:
The classic beauty of the car has never aged. It's like a Marilyn Monroe of auto shape design. I intend never to let go of this car, no matter if it dies near 300,000 miles or whatever, i am collecting it. They do not make this body design anymore!
Take a look at the 1992 design and the 2000 design. not much was changed, very minor things such as an added front grille and lower front extension. Then take a look at cars that were out around 1992, and look how far ahead of the design curve Lexus was with the SC400. it is an amazingly beautiful car.

Pros:
A delight to drive. Super-comfortable on long drives, spacious for two, very luxurious, premium sound system is amazing. Very solid engine and transmission, handling is crisp, suspension is firm but not obnoxiously jerky. I love the sound of the engine note as I press the gas. Six-cyl provides good pickup and more than enough power to get around, although I live in the city. Very good ventilation / air circulation. A/C cools very quickly, heat is not as quick but still above-average. The car is almost ten years old without the slightest hint of any electrical problems. Extremely reliable, with little more than routine maintenance required. Will retain resale value if kept in good condition.
Cons:
Trunk supports are weak, and when loading items into trunk, wind will blow it down onto your head. Trunk is small. Very limited "cubbyhole" space in the interior. Cupholders are small, glovebox is small. Doors are very heavy, and back seats are not comfortable for more than 30 minutes. Sunroof stops halfway when closing. Very loose in the snow, it's necessary to put sandbags in the trunk to add weight to the rear. You'll be feeding it premium gas. I am single, but from the previous owner I can attest that carseats do not fit well in the backseat. This car is meant for 1-2 people.
Overall review:
Since these cars are scarce, it may take you a while to find the SC you are looking for. After months of scouring, I bought mine from an owner 500 miles away, and let me tell you that the wait was WORTH IT in every respect. I would have trouble deriving more satisfaction out of this car. I love driving it, and everyone who has been in it for a ride raves about it. If you take care of this car, it will last a very very long time and treat you well.
