Best Car I ever Owned by NJ Giants Fan on 02/09/2012. Trim: 1998 Lexus ES 300, Owned 4 years.
Pros: Bought this car on 08/08/08 with 180,000 miles. Must be good luck with those numbers. Have had Toyota's since 1992 and have always been satisfied. Figured I'd give Lexus a shot. Bought the car for $3600 from an adult couple who had the car since 2000. Car was well maintained. Bottom line, I just changed the oil every 5-6K. Car ran great for 3.5 years. I bought a battery just before Xmas of this past year, but other than that, nothing!! Furthermore, about a year after I bought her, I got rear ended by a goofy teenager . His insurance co. paid me $1100, 00. The only visible damage was a torn bumper. Covered these tears with a couple of bumper stickers and pocketed $1095.00!!!!!
Cons: Leaked a little oil....maybe a quart every 2 thousand miles. Countered this by using 20w-50 about two years ago which almost eliminated the leakage. CEL was on for the last year, but didn't effect my driving or performance at all. May have been activated by the thicker oil. Who knows??? All these Lexus seem to have these issues with the check engine light.
Overall review: Very satisfied! Essentially the car cost me $2500,00 and I sold it 3.5 years later for $2000.00. Only cost was oil changes and battery for $90 at Walmart. The car never saw an auto shop during my ownership. This car was my daily driver, and always started up, even after sometimes going a week to 10 days between starts.. (I have a train station within walking distance of my condo) Interior leather was in great shape with no rips, and was very comfortable. Car drove incredible for an almost 14 year old car. There is almost no road noise, and very little wind noise, and no steering wheel vibrations, even at 75 miles an hour. Car was a pleasure to drive, especially on long weekend trips. AC and heat always worked well. Sound system was stellar as well. Averaged 26 mpg on the highway using regular gas. Like I said, you would never expect that the car was 14 years old with over 215,000 miles on it.

sh*ts on your car by StreetRacer from Orange County on 09/20/2009. Trim: 1998 Lexus ES 300, Owned 4 years.
Pros: It's FAST, 3.0 litter engine v6 , 215 HP, low ride, no electronic speed barrier, max possible speed 141 mph, Easy handling and good breaking. Reliable. Mine has 127000 miles and still runs great. My upgrades: custom lowered suspension, kyb shocks & low springs, 20 inch crave alloys rims 225/30/R20, cold air intake, chip tuning, kiker 2500watt stereo system, tint all around, air fenders, HID crystal blue& crystal white corner turn signals, strob lights in tail & headlights & custom trunk and interior led lighting.
Cons: Front end makes noise while going over the bumps, ride is not too smoth, noisy because of the window structure ( wind on the freeway, no frame on the door), premium gas prefered for a longer service, automatic transmition ( i just like manual more) , cup holders )))) not alot aftermarket parts, still cant find projector lighting or alternative rear lights
Overall review: Great car: fast, elegant, luxury, affordable, aggressive ride, alot of fun ))) elegant and stylish, leaves civics, camries, ford, and all non-sense vehicles behind. Able to keep up with newer BMW, Mersedes, Audi, Porshe , and turbo charged vehicles.

Superb ride, excellent en every way. by Rodolfo from Dominican Republic on 07/19/2009. Trim: 1998 Lexus ES 300, Owned 4 years.
Pros: This car has no ending, I bought it in 2005 with 70K miles and now it's better than ever. It rides like new. It has the AVS wich works perfectly when customizing suspension from sport (tigher)to confort(softer), and who says this is not a "sport sedan", I cannot agree with that because when my foot says pedal to the metal I just see the upcoming horizon aproaching really fast leaving everything behind. I also upgrade with 17 inch IS300 whells with 215 50 R17 Bridge tires, also install the OEM rear spoiler . It is a wonderful car for the city and long roads and with 11 years its still a head tunner, no doubt. Sound system is great, leather still flawless, A/C freezing. Gives 20/28 mpg c/h.
Cons: The only thing that I change was when I bought it, 2 month after; the brake's air preasure tank had a leak, replace it with a used spare from an '01 camry V6 (USD 35.92 used spare part and USD 10.00 labor = USD 45.92) and ready to go 'til now. That's really a point for all the ES models, most of all the mechanical and electrical parts are the same as the camry V6 of the same platform/year, so you can get the same spare cheaper (saying is for lexus it is an inmediate 200% o more, pricier than saying that if for a toyota). The other thing that can be improved is the cupholders, they are made only for 12 onz light cans, could use a stronger cup holder.
Overall review: Extraordinary automobile, beautiful sharp finish, great quality materials, when you arrive in it you are inmediatly well recognize; very good equation: low cost & high standard ride. I fully recomended in every aspect. Very relaible, with a good maintenance program aplied it is guaranteed cero breakdowns and taxi calls. Try to get it with the AVS system, it really makes a diference in the suspension and traction during sport driving.

Unsurpassed quality by An MSN Autos Consumer on 05/18/2007. Trim: 1998 Lexus ES 300, Owned 5 years.
Pros: Super quiet interior and smooth ride
Cons: Mostly minor things. Stereo/CD changer LCD panel has gone out. CD player has trouble reading discs. The AC system could have been designed better with vents down near the lower part of the driver's seat.
Overall review: Super car. Unsurpassed reliability and comfort. I've had it about 4 years and love the car.
