A fun Lexus? by cal_poly_speeder on 11/22/2010. Trim: 1993 Lexus SC 300, Owned 1 year.
Pros: In the 5-speed manual, 1st gear has lots of power, and the clutch/gearbox have much feel to them (way more than any 3-series bimmer I've ever driven does). Fairly quiet at freeway speeds, has perfect amount of power in 5th gear. Has had minor leaks, but it's very cheap to maintain, as I take it to a Toyota mechanic. I live in SLO and it is such as smooth, yet fairly sporty-handling car to take on 1, side roads, and through town in general. Stereo system is fairly good being stock (pioneer), tried replacing front speakers with JL's, stock sounded better. Feels better than most cars at 18 years old and 155,000 miles. Switched to mobil-1, revs much better.
Cons: power mirror ecu went out, gauges were replaced w/lextech blue's, minor radiator leak, power steering leak, oil leaks (all fixed for less than 500). First gear feels like it has a little too much inertia to get it going, 2nd gear loses power, and hs synchro grinding problem, unless the shift is extremely slow. Seats are terribly bolstered for 6'0" person, All seats are just too cramped. Feels slightly too boaty when taking sharp turns.Gas mileage is terrible. Subwoofer is terrible. Door locking mechanism broke, spent 220 on used part/labor. CD changer going out, small trunk, too. Nothing major to hate, though
Overall review: I love this car. It was $5000, then along with tires, repairs, and taxes, $7600. It had 143,000 miles on it and was 17 years old. Beautiful drive from Bay Area to SLO, sporty and quiet. May do the supra twin turbo engine swap if it lasts long after I graduate, but this engine suffices for now. 2nd gear synchro is incredibly annoying, maybe its just my W58, will swap out for a V160 or R154 if I ever get the money, Blue instrument cluster gauges from lextech aren't really worth it, unless you use them at night, but I couldn't deal with burnt out gauges. I also have a burnt out temperature gauge. 1st gear races are fun, but 2nd loses too much power. My friends 1995 325i, while slower to 60, felt more alive and powerful in 1st and 2nd. Ultimately, it is a very good car, doesn't do anything incredibly well, but got a lot of things right in the design and engineering. Great stick shift to own

"The Looker" by Naps from Oregon on 07/21/2009. Trim: 1993 Lexus SC 300, Owned more than 10 years.
Pros: I love this car and have from the day I got it. If you had continued to produce this car, I WOULD have up dated. I have also been very happy with Lexus service. Thanks for a great car!
Cons: Not one thing

1 BAD lex!!! by Lexus Man on 08/19/2002. Trim: 1993 Lexus SC 400, Owned 7 years.
Pros: This is one good car!!! I've had mine for 7 years and put is threw some serious torture (140 shot NOS) and still runs clean. Interior is very comfortable, OK gas mileage, and nice truck space.
Cons: Alternator went out in the middle of traffic due to the power steering leaking on it, and starter went out because I try to jump it with a Honda (a big NO NO). Other then that no problems.
Overall review: It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.....The car is very reliable, good freeway speed, can do 155 mph and feel like your only going 65mph. Best car i have ever owned.

Super Solid SC 400 by An MSN Autos Consumer on 08/24/2011. Trim: 1993 Lexus SC 400, Owned 9 years.
Pros: Great looks, better than advertised mileage - up to 27 MPG at 75 MPH, quiet, exceptional comfort-especially for a 6'4" guy, reasonable handling, very solid for 237,000 miles on original engine and transmission, cavernous engine compartment, easy to work on (comparatively). sunroof never leaked in 10 years of ownership, a joy to own and drive
Cons: leaky power steering pumps which eventually wipe out the alternators due to oil and dust caused overheating, quirky traction control system which alternately indicates failure and then resets indicating correct operation,
Overall review: overall my favorite car in over 40 years of driving including Porsches, MG's, Triumphs, MR2s, early Mustangs. Would still drive it but was totaled in a hailstorm.
