May be the outstanding used car value of all time (OK except Bugatti)
by Alex Canada on 05/15/2007.
Trim: 1992 Lexus SC 400, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Superb styling and integrity of design. It looks fast and it is fast. Handles well. Secure. Smooth. Not an intimidator but an assertive car. Real quality does not need to boast and this is the SC400.
Excellent gas mileage for a V8. Engine is tight and tireless at 150,000 plus mi.
Cons:
Very little. CD player in the trunk. Antenna that goes up and down.
Overall review:
A passenger once asked me what car I would most like to own. This is it. My mechanic drives a Porsche 928S4 - and he says the SC400 would be his replacement choice. I have owned many premium vehicles, including Mercedes and I am sorry, Deutschland - not uber alles. I am always pleased to get into this car and drive it whether to work, or just to pick up groceries. Like many of the other reviewers here, I give Lexus full marks for the outstanding combination of engineering and design that is this car. There is no doubt that this will be a classic of automotive history.

Cons:
the acceleration and the power,250 hp is not enough for this V8. i'm looking to produce 300-350 hp.

1992 Lexus SC400 Rocks
by An MSN Autos Consumer on 10/18/2005.
Trim: 1992 Lexus SC 400, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Good looking and modern car even after so many years. A head turner when your car looks stock and all polished. I bought the car with some scratches and rusty rims. I got the body and the rims repainted and the interior detailed. Now it looks awsome. So far I have only needed to do regular maintenance on the car and cross my fingers nothing has gone wrong. It does pretty good gas mileage. Even with this high cost of gas ($1.05 / L in Canada) it still costs me aroud $40 per week. Which is not too bad for a 4L V8 engine. The ride is smooth & quiet and I can't hear anything from the inside. The acceleration is smooth. Too smooth to be frustrating.
Cons:
The car is too heavy and lacks the acceleration a fast sports cars like an Eclipse, Mustang GT, Viper, Corvette...etc. has. I guess this is not a sports car, just looks like one. ALSO a BIG dissapointment is that this car is rear wheel drive, that means it goes all over the place in snow and rain. Not at all safe for those conditions. I had to buy a winter car just to keep my Lexus SC400.
Overall review:
Buy one, spend some money, fix it up and enjoy it for another 100,000 km.

My Baby SC400
by Adrion on 07/19/2005.
Trim: 1992 Lexus SC 400, Owned less than 1 year.

Pros:
Everything!
Cons:
Nothing... Okay just one thing... I hate using Premium Only Gas, especially since the Gas Prices are at/near record highs. :-( However, the car is such a great machine that it is well worth it.
Overall review:
This is by far the best car that I have ever owned. The accelleration is a rush! I wish it had 50-100 more horsepower! I also wished Lexus would have made an option for a manual like on the SC 300. Even for a 13 yr. old car, the SC still a "head turner." For future buyers, beware of the Lexus dealerships. Their customer service is among the highest in the industry but their pricing is insane. I used e-bay, lexus forums, and salvage yards to find genuine Lexus replacement parts.
Personally, the SC 300/400 classic styling is better than, its replacement, the SC 430. Sadly, my SC 400 was totaled 3 weeks ago.
:-( The cabin never buckeled and I walked away with only a strained back. This car is built like a tank, especially to be a Sports Coupe. However, I have already bought with the insurance money a '95 SC400 in near perfect condition and plan to pick it up this Friday. I feel like a little kid in a candy store. I just could not see myself in another car at this point.
