A Piece of xxxx by courtney, murfreesboro on 07/24/2008. Trim: 1996 Land Rover Range Rover 4.0 SE, Owned 10 years.
Pros: When this truck is running, it's great. Good visibility, easy handling, and it's fun to drive.
Cons: Where do I start....mechanically, this vehicle has had a lot problems. I expected a much better designed vehicle when I bought a Land Rover. Right now the vehicle is sitting in my driveway with a menagerie of issues that need fixing. Mine has 120,000 miles on it and requires a new engine. There is a problem with the electrical system and the windows will not roll down, to make matters worse, the AC isn't working so it's unbearable to drive in the summer heat. I thought it might have been a flood vehicle when the liner in the interior started to drop, then I spoke to a fellow 96"rover owner and he is having the same problem!
Overall review: I really have begun to hate this truck, it is so frustrating to have the kind of issues I have experienced, and to make matters worse, the parts are exorbitantly expensive. BEWARE, DO NOT BUY LAND ROVER

A VEHICLE FOR THE ELITE by vip_17yo_NZ on 07/07/2008. Trim: 1996 Land Rover Range Rover 4.6 HSE, Owned 2 years.
Pros: Totally unbeleivable driving experience, very discriminating to other drivers, high seating position, so you have great visibility, great steering , interior -has great 'elite' qualities, Harmon Kardon audio sytem, sunroof, v8, leather, cruise control, air suspension, trip computer -just some of many things. Its most definatly a car which gets lots of looks and comments, truly built for royalty. Its far more superior to its other competitors (bmw x5 and mercedes ml) the ride quality is fantastic, the Range Rover was built so that there is only a particular amount of cabin noise and cabin movement, by using things like extra seals around all windows, doors and panels and also air suspenison.
Cons: although you hear a substanial amount of problems with range rovers i have only had one, a switch in the ABS gae out just after i bought the car, however luckily my mechanical insurance more than covered it which was good, however in all Range Rovers, after a certain extent the air suspension and or air bags will need to be replaced at some point, which is why you need to save up really. Also fuel economy, not the greatest especially with the HSE version, but still not the worst so its still affordable to run, the best trick is to always keep the rpm under 2000 which is actually easier than it seems, because of the enormous engine it can just idle while running basicallly.
Overall review: Absolutely brilliant car, a recommendation to all, however always becareful with the history of the car, ensure that it has been looked after and has been serviced. Range Rover -power to suprise.

The only real SUV out there! Dont accept any imitations. by Seattle Range Rover driver. on 01/06/2008. Trim: 1996 Land Rover Range Rover 4.0 SE, Owned 3 years.
Pros: My 1996 Range Rover SE is now 12 years old and random people still tell me how cool it is! After so may years it still drives live it was new. If you stay current on the maintence the Range will take care of you for a long time!! PS-The Range Rover will climb ANYTHING!
Cons: Low gas milage. About 12 in the city and 16 on the high way!
Overall review: I love this vehicle. I hope to be a Range Rover driver for the rest of my life. I would suggest a RR to anyone who can keep up the maintence and enjoys driving the most premium vehicle made. The maintence isnt really that often because I take such good care of it, but it is expensive. I would give it a 9-10 over all.

96 Range Rover 4.0SE by Stephanie on 05/16/2007. Trim: 1996 Land Rover Range Rover 4.0 SE, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: Very sharp looking vehicle, 4x4, very comfy/smooth ride, nice interior, nice factory sound system.
Cons: Air suspension tends to have problems, which are very expensive to fix. We converted ours to coil springs so we wouldn't have to worry about the air suspension continually breaking down.
Overall review: I'd recommend that if you buy this vehicle, convert it to coil suspension. Other than that, it's a great vehicle to own.
