Great engine, but......

Pros:
This car is a blast to drive. I have almost 30k on it and the engine still wants to play. It's not just the engine, but all the components that make you feel like you're in complete control. This car has an attitude.
Cons:
All the joy from driving the car is chucked out the window because the number of things that break.
The car was at the dealer's for a month waiting for a part from Germany; the radio had to be replaced, the outside mirror control broke off in my hand (I don't think even Chevys do that). Window regulators for both windows had to be replaced, the rear seatbelt "froze-up", they had to cut it out and re-upholster the back seat (don't ask me..that's what they said).
And, I've been to both VW dealers in the area and they both suck...had one kid take the car for a joy ride after the car was serviced...I watched him.
Overall review:
I can understand why VW has extended the warranties on the current models to 3 years....they've made enough $$$ screwing everybody else for so long.
If you're considering buying a used one..buyer beware.

Runs great, a lot of fun in turns
Cons:
Engine not optimized, with just a few more dollars you can take the BHP to over 200 ! What is VW waiting for?

Pros:
Great power. Great interior. Monsoon sound is excellent.
Cons:
I live in Minnesota. This car handles great in the snow, but I'm waiting for warm weather so I can open it up!!

Great power. Great Pickup. Get the Neuspeed P-Flow for 10 more HP!

Best car I ever lucked into

Useful?
Pros:
Best car I have ever owned. Useful, practical and a lot of fun to drive. Maintenance has been reasonable over its 11-year, 160,000 mile life and it still runs and handles as well as it did new. Handles snow or I-10 in LA.
Cons:
That it will probably outlive me.
Overall review:
Has been used as a moving van, garbage truck, and cross-country grand tourer. Great sound system, acceleration is superb and on the track it has hit 122 mph.
