Great little mini SUV!
by Yvonne from Warwick, PA. on 09/04/2011.
Trim: 2000 Toyota RAV4 4-Door 4WD, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros:
I purchased this car brand new in 2000. This was the last of the "sneaker" shaped model. I replaced the timing belt last year and I currently have 131,450 miles on it. I was contemplating purchasing a new RAV next year but ultimately changed my mind. Runs good, I had to replace the muffler/tailpipe twice in 11 years (that isn't at all bad) and just put new tires on it last month. Replaced the battery twice but overall, I love it. I will run it until it's on its last wheels. :-)
Cons:
Acceleration is and always has been poor since it's a 4-cylinder. It has a booster switch that gives it an extra oomph when highway accelerating but doesn't do that much.
Overall review:
Excellent buy for a teen's first car. There's not a whole lot of leg room in the back which would discourage large groups from riding in it; nice storage area in the back with collapsible back seats that offer more room for storage.

the cute UTE
by Craig from Missouri on 02/10/2001.
Trim: 2000 Toyota RAV4 4-Door 4WD, Owned 1 year.

Pros:
Is fun to drive. The ride is excellent for a small SUV. The back
door is easy to access.
Cons:
Lack of good cup holders in the back. Horsepower needs more
feed. Rear cover was an extra price.
Overall review:
I traded in a 1990 Cadillac Deville which we had driven for over
8 years. It was a excellent vehicle, just large and outdated looking.
With our children gone this car fits our over 50 lifestyle very nice.
We've had the car for one year and have over 17,000 on it!
We fight over who get to drive it. So far we have each driven it for
six months apiece.

Won't give up the Rav4
by Sandi Bare on 07/25/2009.
Trim: 2000 Toyota RAV4 4-Door 2WD, Owned 9 years.
Useful?
Pros:
Affordable to maintain. I own a 5-speed and it hasn't given me any problems. Gas mileage remains better than other compact SUV's of the same year (anywhere between 26 to 28 mpg).
Cons:
No rear bumper so rear-end collision damage can be extensive. Stock radio/CD player was mediocre, but there were numerous after market options available.
Overall review:
I currently have 149,000+ miles on my car. Water pump and timing belt was changed in 2007. Exterior of car is still good, interior of car is very durable. My car is used mainly for home/work commute, annual camping trips, trips to the beach. Handles well in traffic. Since I bought the car, it has received four rear-end impacts; three in traffic and one while parked on the street and was hit by a drunk driver.
Family, friends and co-workers encourage me to get a new car, but I have developed a bond with my car and am determined not to trade it in or buy a new car until this one doesn't run anymore.
