KIA = Keep It Away by saymt from Hampton Roads Virginia on 08/12/2008. Trim: 1997 Kia Sportage 4WD, Owned more than 10 years.

Pros: The one day every other year that we had snow it was fun to use the 4x drive.

Cons: Everything. Constantly in the shop for engine issues. (Check engine light, major vibrations, major oil leaks, etc.) Constant brake repairs and oil leak repairs. Visors fell off one day while driving and I was quoted $75 per visor to fix. Seatbelt unlocks when stopping, radio is always entertaining when attempting to lower the volume it typically increases the volume, lowering the volume does nothing. Sometimes the stations change when trying to lower the volume. The CD player occasionally works usually just ejects the discs repeatedly. Brake lights need to be kept in stock, as they never last very long. KIA has never responded to my many calls, letters and emails.

Don't invest in a Kia by Damon on 11/20/2008. Trim: 1997 Kia Sportage 2WD, Owned 5 years.

Pros: I could tow most of my junk around.

Cons: I'll never buy a Kia again. I thought I got a deal with I purchased this car used. From day 1, there were problems. Check engine light comes on randomly, windows don't roll down (or up), door locks don't work. Both visors fall off. Horrible gas mileage, oil leaks, etc etc etc.

Cons: The whole car. Bad on gas, brakes goes so fast, check engine light is continuosly on,

Pros: It is a true off-road vehicle.

Cons: One shouuld replace coils, some engine wiring, brakes and shocks.

Overall review: One should replace coils and some engine wiring as the MSN discussion suggests. One should also replace KIA brakes and shocks/struts with more durable after-market parts. The Sportage then is very durable and very durable.
