Miles of Smiles by Car guy from Illinois on 01/28/2014. Trim: 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe, Owned 1 year.
Pros: I own a 2013 GT500 had it 18 months with 6100 miles. I have owned big block corvettes, 911 Turbo Porsche, Viper. I still own a Hemi Dart, Hemi Cuda and Hemi Rt. My 2013 Shelby GT500 is in a class of it's own. So much performance and power. This is a true drivers car as said before it will not suffer a fool. I have seen 11.23 at 136 MPH in a quarter and have won my class at the local BMW, Porsche, and Ferrari track days. The car is docile if you wish and if driven with common sense it will get 22- 24 mpg on highway or 12 -14 in town. But if you want to unleash the beast it will get 9 - 10 mpg and scare any passenger into tears and wet pants. The car is off the charts for fun factor.
Cons: This is only a warm weather or summer car. If the car kills me it will be the combination of cold tires and a heavy right foot. If it is below 45 degrees you better tread lightly or suffer the consequences. Tires are extremely soft compound and the Goodyears that come on it or very poor. Purchase Michilen Pilot Super Sports. Make sure you are ready to purchase tires about every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. I haven't worked with brake pad compounds yet but the brakes do fade more than I believe they should when pushed. Extended lower front spoiler is very low. I suggest for $154.00 you purchase a spare you will need it when you sell it to the next guy.
Overall review: For the price the GT500 is the best buy if you want a true super car. It will hold its own with the best. But it is a true drivers car. In skilled hands it is an precise instrument of speed. In the hands of a novice it can be deadly if pushed beyond the limitation of the driver. To those who are novice just keep the nanny controls on and you will be fine on a sunny warm day. DO NOT EVER turn them off unless your skills sets rival Mr. Schumacher's or Mr. Stewart's (both Tony "smoke" and Jackie). If you want to have fun and enjoy driving get this car. If you are a car guy it will make you smile when driven. If you are not it can scare the bejesus out of you in a New York second.

Awesome Shelby GT 500 by Dragon Rider from Chicago on 05/13/2014. Trim: 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe, Owned less than 1 year.
Pros: The raw power of 662 HP with 631 pounds of torque is outstanding. Racaro seats snuggle and grab you in the seat. The adjustable suspension, and steering, from the SVT Performance Package is fantastic. I can adjust the ride I need for the track or every day commuting. The short throw shifter is tight and is very precise. The thrill it provides the driver behind the wheel is so rewarding. I enjoy cruising at highway speed in sixth gear at 1500 RPM's or less. The car has some much power in passing traffic or climbing hills without down shifting the car. The ride quality is outstanding once you reach your cruising speed. I love knowing what I have under my right foot and using it wisely.
Cons: The cheap appearing quad exhaust pipes coming out of the mufflers are tacky. The lack of a bug screen protection for the radiators as there is no grill. The addition of the ultra-low chin spoiler is dangerous with curbs and parking blocks. The mechanical hood stay rod verses hydraulic hood struts is ridiculous. I understand the heavy clutch operation due to horsepower and torque, but very laboring on your left leg when in city driving or in heavy traffic. You need to be careful when driving in the rain or below 45 degrees the car will get out of your control right now. The performance tires are for nice warm days. Brakes will get lazy or soft with heavy use on track days.
Overall review: This is one of the last cars that Carroll Shelby had his hands in with the SVT Ford Team. The car has great pedigree and style in my mind. It is a monster on a road course, if not handle correctly, but if handle right; it is a thrill of life time. Leaving the Traction Control and Launch Control enable allows the novice to experience this thrill, but if you participate in HPDE, disable these features and the car is awesome to drive around any road course. The sound of the engine and supercharge is wonderful to the ego. The ride quality on the highway is controlled, and smooth. If you want to step on the throttle, make sure you are in third gear or higher, the road is straight, the road has been dry for more than 24 hours and you have lots of room. “Pull the Seat belt tight and Hang On”

GT 500 SHELBY owner by Fred on 04/04/2014. Trim: 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe, Owned 1 year.
Pros: I have a 2013 bought in Sept of 2012.I only have 2300 (big grin miles!)miles! This is the most important thing: STAY VERY FOCUSED or it could get away from you in a heartbeat! You DO NOT drive it in the rain, under 45 degrees F or hammer it with the wheels even slightly turned. It is a LETHAL . Set the cruise to 75 mph, leave the accelerator alone and enjoy 21-26 mpg OR play and get, oh well who cares MPG. The NAV system is great, the glass top super, recaro seats wonderful and I had the dealership add a back-up camera plus side window louvers. Red candy metallic with black stripes. . Very stealthy until you drop the accelerator.
Cons: Upgraded radio system and subwoofer a bit muddy sounding. I would have like a better tutorial for the MY SYNC plus having the dealership trained up a little more in depth and most important FOMOCO...... INSTALL a BACK-UP CAMERA. Need wider rear tires (12-13 inch) to get the power to the ground. It breaks loose at 80 MPH in 3rd gear.
Overall review: LOVE IT! It's a pleasure to drive at any speed.

The King of the muscle cars, get one while you can. by SpeedGranny on 01/28/2014. Trim: 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe, Owned 1 year.
Pros: Truly awesome power, exotic engine, wonderful exhaust sound. The symphony this thing plays between 3500 and 6000 RPM is the sweetest music I have ever heard. Make no mistake, this is a drivers car. Master it and you will be handsomely rewarded, but be warned it does not suffer fools.
Cons: It could really use wider tires. Putting even a fraction of the available power to the ground is challenging, but it can be done, with practice. Other than that, there is nothing to dislike, it is perfect. Singular in its purpose, uncompromising, and pure.
Overall review: The king of the muscle cars. If that is what you seek, you will not be disappointed. Brutally powerful, brash, loud, uncompromising and, yes, dangerous. If you like driving, really driving, this is it. All other cars that have anywhere near this much power, are far easier to drive. If a Z06 puts you to sleep, get one of these, and learn to drive sideways.
